A new WhiteOS 2.0 is being worked on at the moment. More news about the progress and potential release date are soon to come.

The key intention is that you can have a specific portable OS where you can keep all your crypto currency wallets.

The great benefits of the idea are that firstly it's portable.. But far more importantly is that you're essentially creating a cold storage platform for all your wallets.

You're also getting a much greater level of security, you're not using your standard OS which if you're like most people probably has some form of malware on it (key loggers and more).

The current WhiteOS has TOR built in so you're always running with anonymity when using the OS, this is does not make your transactions on the block chain anonymous as everything still goes to the public ledger, but if you are concerned about outsiders or your network administrator seeing your activity then you're covered there too.

Also you will have a mostly complete copy of the blockchain with you where ever you go, so no need to spend potentially hours waiting for your wallets to sync.

Will WhiteOS allow for staking coins? Many people will want to run their own staking box and if WhiteOS can pull it off, there's a huge market for it not just in software but also hardware for personal staking boxes.
It's complicated to set up a Linux based box at the moment especially with compatibility issues with different wallets and not very mainstream friendly.
And will you keep the software open or is it open already?

WhiteNode - OTB Whitecoin Node for RasPi 2 and RasPi 3

WhiteNode comes with an official Raspbian (stretch) customized image. This allows you to run the Whitecoin daemon out of the box with minimum efforts.
This way users can help strengthen the network and make it easy for users  to stake coins on an energy efficient device.
The source compiling scripts are on our Github located here, this allowed users to create their own custom image if needed. Or for other developers to customize them for their own coin.

Where to download ?

WhiteNode can be downloaded from our website or github.

How to use it?

• Unzip the image and install it to an SD card like any other Raspberry Pi image
• Configure your WiFi by editing whitenode-wpa-supplicant.txt on the root of the flashed card when using it like a flash drive in windows.
• Boot the Pi from the SD card
• Log into your Pi via SSH (it is located at whitenode.local if your computer supports bonjour or the IP address assigned by your router), default username is "pi", default password is "raspberry", change the password using the passwd command and or in the raspi-config (sudo raspi-config).

How to burn the image to an SD card?

Download Etcher from https://etcher.io/ and follow the steps to burn it.

Yes, WhiteOS in its current version allows for staking and the new release will support staking too!

It is and I believe will continue to be open, especially with the ethos in mind of being useful to any or all crypto currency users it will need to be.

No there isn't a PoS calculator as of yet, but it's being looked in to as it shouldn't be too difficult to do.

My method of calculation (there is another more complex one) is: (your staking coins/network weight) this gives you the chance per block.

Multiply that by number of blocks per day (60 blocks per hour * 24 hours) = 1,440 blocks per day (2,880 XWC reward per day)

Then multiply your chance per block * blocks per day * 2 (block reward) to get expected pay out.

For example:

Coins staked: 100,000

Network weight: 10,000,000

(100,000/10,000,000)= 0.01 chance per block (1% of network weight)

(0.01 * 1,440 * 2) = 28.8 XWC earned

This is an example only, network weight does vary block to block, but should give you a decent expectation of what will occur.

Also just remember to check out https://www.whitecoin.info/whitecoin-wallet-instructions/ to ensure you have your wallet correctly configured with the nodes added
