There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

For this amount you are better off buying BTC or LTC.

You will be buying a out of date miner, and will never get it back on money.  It would take quite a bit more for a current gen miner.

rather then investing that 30$ in miner better you invest this in bitcoin directly

but if you still want to mine bitcoin then you can try cloudmining
check pbmining.com for cloudmining

We were hoping you could tell us.  Cheesy

Forget mining. Get an account at an exchange, fund it, buy BTC then withdraw to your wallet.

The U3 is only $59.  Mind you it will probably be $80-100 through a reseller.

Totally depends on if they want to learn to mine or just take a gamble on crypto.

Agree with all the suggestions - buy BTC. Its very low now, and the added benefit is that you don't have to monitor the BTC in your wallet.
