I am very new to mining/pool mining. I have around 20 pcs I could use to run mining all day. I signed up for DigitalGeneration and got the Trial thread and let it run all last night but when I refresh my stats it still says I have not earned anything. I would like to find something reliable and that works thats something like DigitalGeneration that I could run on all of those PCs at once. I heard EoBot was pretty decent. Just want to get it running on all of them and let them hum away. Any suggestions?

You do not have specific mining hardware (ASICs) so you will not see any income. In fact, you will be spending far more on electricity and replacing PC parts than you will ever see in income.

What you are talking about doing was possible 2+ years ago. It hasn't been possible to mine Bitcoin with a CPU or GPU for over a year.

Adding more things that can't mine doesn't make the whole more capable, 1 PC or 20 PCs or 200 won't help. It will just add to your electricity bill.

Well what about that DigitalGeneration site or the EoBot? From what I can tell it is just software that runs in windows. It seems more like a community mining than just one sole guy trying to mine coins using power hardware for way more profit of course. It seems theres Miner Miners....and then theres these EoBot/DigitalGeneration script running programs where you are mining for them or something and gain a small portion of the profit. How profitable can it be mining for yourself if you had one of those ASICs machines? Please humor me as i am new and trying to learn because this is very interesting to me.

Thanks

If you would bother to read the multiple other threads on this topic you will see you are wasting electricity and wearing out your hardware for nothing. If you just want to get a "feel" for mining, buy a USB ASIC. Cheap to run and easy to use but do not expect any kind of profit as you won't get any.
Unless you have thousands to spend and cheap electricity, you probably won't even break even. Even then, with BTC price falling you won't make much of anything.

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

So in a nutshell mining today is pointless and no profit comes of it whatsoever no matter if you have free electricity or a decent ASIC machine. Thats what i am getting from your post. Correct me if I am wrong. I have free electricity where I am and could hook up several ASIC boxes if I wished here in my office at work and let them hum along all day and all night.

Someone is paying for that electricity, it isn't free. If you are not the boss you could lose your job. To have enough ASICs to even attempt a profit, you would need thousands of watts of power. Most offices can't handle that type of demand.
As I stated earlier, read all the other scores of threads on this subject.

While I do not recommend this; if you in theory had 200 top of the line computers (with 3x graphics cards) and free electricity you would make ~$50/month. Whoever is paying for the electricity would be paying roughly ~$10,000 a month.

ASIC miners can be profitable. But be careful, the profits are razor thin.

Why would someone devote all of this time into this is the profits are supposedly so small? Just a hobby? So others can get rich off of the coin. I dont get it.

You're getting into the game too late.  If you had been around for the past 3+ years you would understand that people could mine thousands of BTC with their PCs.  Of course, people were also paying 10,000BTC for a couple pizzas, too.  Mining has evolved, and continues to do so.  Mine to support the network and to be a part of the BTC ecosystem, but don't expect a magic internet money making machine to turn you into Warren Buffet or Bill Gates.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

Mining is zero sum game for the average consumer right now.  No matter what scale, small or large, is a loss from day one.

Only person that profits, is the one that sells the pickaxes to John Doe(Asic Manufacturers).

Why would someone devote all of this time into this is the profits are supposedly so small? Just a hobby? So others can get rich off of the coin. I dont get it.

margins were much better.

right now the market is bearish.

coins were at 1100 usd now at 370 usd a very big drop.

a good machine to mod to make quiet is the antminer s-3  it will pull 366 watts and you maybe able to hide that much power.

so lets say you get one for 250 usd  add the better fan  your cost is 265 usd .

it will do this at 8% diff jumps
350 usd price a coin

so can you deal with that 365 watt use at the office 24/7/365 and you earn around 100 bucks?
now plug in 550 a coin and it looks better.

punch in 750 a coin even better . so those that were around at higher usd prices are hoping for more price jumps

Why don't these people read one single thread before posting their asinine questions?! These topics have been addressed a kajillion times just in the past day.  Roll Eyes

And what the hell is DigitalGeneration and EObot? You couldn't even find a legitimate pool to mine with?

Geez!

Gets you nothing even if you have 100 pcs..

Not even a 1000, 10000, million PC's etc.

Electrical costs make sure of that.  Not to mention all the motherboards and CPU's you'll end up burning up.
