Guys,

Sometimes within 1-2 months I will be starting to sell USB stick pre-loaded with blockchain data on it (blocks, block data, and headers) to make your life easier without waiting to download the whole blockchain which can take up to 24 hours or more. It's ideal for those who runs Armory/Bitcoin-QT. How many of you people need it? It's great for those who have low bandwidth from their ISP. I will ship for free Wink. Cost is $100.00 per 128 GB USB stick - good quality.

Let me know.

As long you're using USB 3.0 then it wouldn't matter - It's pretty fast. USB 2.0 takes a very long time. You just need a good quality USB w/ good read & write speed. Like Mushkin Enhanced Ventura Ultra 240GB USB 3.0 (450/445 MB), it's out of stock ATM. I would prefer to sell USB 3.0.

Or just dump from USB to your HDD of your choice, and have Armory/Bitcoin-QT points to that database directory.

You're free to scan the entire content via Antivirus. If you see a filename with .exe then don't use it. It will only be on .blk format (block and block data) including header. I want to build a good reputation here as a merchant. I do not have any experience in reverse engineering in C/C++ or assembly language. Alternatively, I can use MD5 checksum and/or use GPG/PGP method of verification (I haven't done that part in terms of PGP yet but I am learning).

Does this answer your question?

Wouldn't it be possible for one to make multiple copies of the same wallet and steal coins?

Just curious.

I am not making copies of my wallet. I am copying the data from the blockchain itself. Even if I accidentally gave you my wallet address, you will have to crack the password protected by Armory (AES 256). It doesn't make any sense. Does this answer your question?

I have a few things:

1) Blockchain isn't even at 30GB, why are you using a 128GB stick? (https://blockchain.info/charts/blocks-size)
2) The cost is unreasonable -- 100$ USD for something you'll use once, maybe a few times?

Suggestion:

Buy 32 GB flash drives for 20$, or less if you buy generic 32GBs in bulk, and sell the sticks for:
- Cost of stick (15-20$, pass on the savings to your client)
- 5$ for the blockchain data
- Shipping Cost

This should bring your cost down from 60$ a 128gb flash drive (if you can find them this low) to 20$. So much space would be wasted using a larger drive, so you're not selling blockchain data at that point -- you're selling the drive.

Your service is an interesting one; however, the big issue is:
1) People have to wait to receive it (shipping)
2) People are expected to pay 100$

If you could market this in retail stores, then you may have more luck because at that point people can buy it and download the blockchain as soon as they get home.

Also good for people who worry about bandwidth. 50gb extra = 10$, so 20gb downloading the blockchain can be detrimental to someone's internet service.

FYI: Blockchain is at 47.3 GB right now.. ill respond to comments when im done with LoL (SORRY).

No, it's not. It's around 24 gigabytes.

Armory's database is not part of the block chain.

Ah, it's a bootstrap from the torrent itself. Ok, my bad. But if you're using Armory then this will be very useful. 47.3 GB is a lot when using Armory/Bitcoin-QT combined. Armory is highly recommended due to its security.

Sounds reasonable to me. I don't mind selling it for $60.00 (instead of $100.00, shipping included) via USPS Flat Rate Box - it's fast and it gets there within days (3-5 days). It's ideal for people with low bandwidth connection.

AFAIK you can delete the bootstrap once the block chain has been bootstrapped. The block chain bootstrap is not Armory's database either.

THANKS FOR CLEARING THAT UP!

I have one USB stick - 32 GB. I would like to test it out, anyone interested? Starting on August 4th, I would appreciate if someone can pay $6.00 in BTC for shipping? I will immediately supply USPS tracking number (I have a bunch of them with me). It should only take 3 days at the most for USPS Flat Rate Box.

THANKS!

Lol Eric, way to say what ever body is thinking re: pricing.

It is a good idea for those who need to get started really quickly.. I wonder how long it takes to download and sync up from scratch these days. I haven't done it since early 2013, Going to have to again soon :~( But I'll probs just wait.. not like I have to do actually do anything while it d/l and syncs.

Those USB chains should be useful to me in a few months.
Now I'm just collecting btc and don't need to store them.

I hope that in the meantime the price will be lower...
