Weekly Crown Update 27th November to 4th December 2017

First Commercial Hardware on Crown

We are proud to announce that we have secured a partnership with G-ME. G-ME is a tracking and communication device for children, families, elderly people and more that can enable them to register the device and its identity on the Crown blockchain. Our blockchain works as an immutable database, and the emergency information G-ME will provide cannot be counterfeited. This means that no one can change your blood type or emergency phone number. It is important to reiterate that personal information such as location, emergency phones, and diseases won't be available publically because it's not written to the blockchain in plaintext. It uses one-way encryption (hash) to do that, so the result cannot be decrypted and it doesn't reveal any information about personal data. This will be the first project built on Crown!

New Team Members

Two new team members have joined us starting today. The new developer has many years of experience in software engineering and architecture of different projects like enterprise security systems, forensics software, distributed systems etc. On previous projects, he worked as a senior developer, development coordinator and software architect. He will be working on governance part of Crown. Another team member will take the leading role of QA on the project. He also has many years of software testing experience and 2 ISTQB qualifications in testing. He worked as a senior quality analyst, and previously as a test manager and test team lead

We have worked with our marketing team to produce posts and ads that have been out since Tuesday. We have seen a great uptick in the community growth in just a few days since this effort has started and we expect the growth to continue.

Last week we visited blockchain summit in Kiev, and obtained direct contacts with some businesses such as Remme which could be helpful for the future. We prepared a video that can be found here: We also prepared a new proposal for the upcoming conference on the 15th of December. Some subtitles in Ua has done, improving social media

As well as working on getting ready for Crown exhibiting and sponsoring the Malta Blockchain Expo on 7th December, I've been working on cts.media's new push, #NodeKnowledge. Creating up to date node / network info for current node operators and also attract newcomers.
I've also submitted a joint proposal with Snoops to provide a free Systemnode. We're hoping to create a month long initiative, promoting a social media based prize draw, where the winner receives a free Systemnode and 12 months free hosting courtesy of Node-VPS

I have worked with Vic to establish a partnership with G-ME by meeting with them and Madrid and accepted terms for them to build their project on top of Crown.

I have set up a coinscreen on on one of Perth's most popular Bitcoin ATMs which displays the live price of CRW/USD and CRW/BTC. This will incite public curiosity and attention. I've created infographics and a powerpoint in preparation for a presentation I will give this weekend on systemnodes.
I also created a twitter page which targets the Australian crypto community and am working towards attracting a much larger audience.

I have been talking to much of the community and developers, and negotiating agreements with different people. My week has mainly been working on theorizing ideas relating to Crown as a whole.

I have been dealing with questions relating to the sell-off we had with our former team member. I have contacted masternode rank sites. I have also completed some minor adjustments to the wiki and other general support stuff.

Yeah the team believes that the connection of an Internet of things device with the Crown blockchain is a great example of real world use case for us.
The important thing for Crown is backing the blockchain with real values / human ideas instead of being "just" a trading token. That is the current problem with crypto, people just look at the exchange value for all the ICOs but its hard to find project which are building values on their blockchains. I am of the opinion that "crypto as a commodity" strategy is not sustainable in the future.

I am of the opinion that "crypto as a commodity" strategy is not sustainable in the future.

This is especially true for the projects that tout themselves as payment systems.  Volatility is an undesirable characteristic for payment currencies.

But this currency are good for trading. Buy cheap and sell hight with the good news is a working strategy for traders and investors. The Crown project looks good now to do some mid-term investments.

Sure, we don't discourage trading. Actually having a high volume on e.g. bittrex is some of the best implicit, community-driven marketing you could ask for. But we leave all that up to the community and investors to decide for themselves.
The only thing we as the team can do is pick a strategy of where we want the project's fundamentals to go, which is not as a pure currency/commodity. Not being a currency doesn't by definition rule out speculation though Smiley

Also remember: the more value the CRW token has, the more useful/quality projects can be started through the governance system, the more Crown as a project can be improved (like how we can now pay salaries for a QA tester, a marketing/PR person, community ambassadors, and more out of 43,000 CRW monthly. Which wouldn't be possible if the token had half the value it does now).

Here a short write-up of the Blockchain World Conference Bangkok I attended to spread the word of Crown & learn more about the field.

Full write-up is here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSULHBMdBfTJWnQQ66nmTTqn6FiBFJ9P75duAoFNfkLVJ4Qram0Ge0fB_wlgglQdR2FQqzh5N78VA5z/pub

The really short summary is:
Quote
Crown has solid fundamentals (the triple/quadruple T’s) by the metrics of some Angel Investors and Gurus in the field. Overall it is good news for Crown, and it puts Crown easily between the few quality projects out there. Also the fact that it is not premined, and a project from 2014 with no ICO surprised many people in a good way.

Where Crown can improve upon, is a more professional business strategy structure. And highlighting the valuable asset that is Ivan.
Some other interesting points were the hunger for transaction speed in the field, and the possibility of peer2peer money lending as a business case opportunity for blockchain in China.

This is good stuff. Snoops' writeup of the Malta conference will be posted soon as well.
I don't think people realize enough that it's quite unique to have core team members of a project out in the field, speaking with people at conferences, collecting feedback, explaining the platform etc. I'm biased of course, but I'm hyped about this! Cheesy

It costs 20k euro.

We do have the funds (more or less ready) and would really like the integration. However, Ledger does not want to add a coin that uses the same addresses as Bitcoin does, for administrative reasons I think (correct me if I'm wrong).

So - at some point Crown will implement a unique address that is different from BTC. Until then, we focus on Trezor (maybe somewhere q1/q2 2018 that we have that ready).

Not at all.  The presence of the core team everywhere is a great indicator of their enthusiasm and commitment.  Who better than the folks who know it best to speak with you and answer your questions. All this activity is certainly not unnoticed.

Dear Community

I want to encourage everyone to take regular backups of your wallet.dat file, i have used way too much time over the last 3 weeks recovering wallets for people, i have a company to run as well, as work on crown.

I will still recover wallets if needed, but i will charge 5% of wallet contents, so, please take backups!!
