My focus is now firmly on increasing adoption, following some new exchange listings, hopefully.

https://c-patex.com/voting-en.php

Quote
On April 15, 2020 the voting will be closed and will be THE LAST OF THE YEAR
Coins that have earned 5 or more votes, or have deposits of 0.1 LTC or more, will be added in the next few weeks

Maybe a good chance to get Gapcoin listed in a second exchange, either for free if you can convince 4 people using the exchange to vote or cheaply if you can send 0.1 Ltc to the vote address.

Done !

Gapcoin will be added for trading at: https://c-patex.com/ exchange sometime on or after April 15, 2020.

Thanks for the heads-up PttnMe Wink

I've registered there also, I think they are quite a big exchange though I've not been trading much recently.   I've sent a message on twitter to take part in your generous offer and will be giving my six core cpu a test to see if its any good at this Smiley      gpu is also a possible, though cpu sits idle much of the time so thats the avenue I think is best utilised.  Also easier for me to section off cores and threads.

Welcome!

At the current difficulty level you will likely find a good number of blocks per day with CPU / solo mining in the Gapcoin wallet.

Pooled mining for Gapcoin is possibly getting closer once more.

I'd like to see the project with at least three stable exchange listings, a second block explorer and another mining pool for some competition first!  Wink

Be careful with the 'old' GPU miner release, it has not really been tested for newer cards etc.,

...

- Main Block Explorer renewed
- Twitter 'Giveaway' still active
- Tried contacting some Prime Gap 'experts' to give some input on PoW
- More exchanges coming soon!

...snip...

hmmmm
Thought giveaways weren't allowed on here, also discriminatory against non-twitter users....
great way to kick miners who have paid their power bills to mine this currency...

My 'Gapcoin Giveaway' via Twitter, is only mentioned here in the forum thread. That is perfectly OK and my decision.

Where is your own 'giveaway' on another platform or by another means ?

Welcome to the free market economy !

...

The mods on this forum actually once gave me a 30 day ban when I tried to contact relevant accounts that I thought might be interested in the Gapcoin project. I simple sent individually named PM's (not bulk) and some info, along with a uniquely allocated private key, to distribute some free GAP to them. Less than 100 accounts I selected received the info (generally being people that I had already interacted with on the forum) and they still temporarily 'banned' my account.

Lessons learned ...

Perhaps some people here have concerns about my future actions if/when I become increasingly mathematically 'resourceful' !?  Cheesy

Imagine if satoshi hadn't contacted anyone about Bitcoin through the Cypherpunks mailing list !?

Unsolicited spam is spam, private messages are private messages !?

...

You do realize how much I'm doing behind the scenes to ensue the success of the Gapcoin project, despite all odds ?

Currently ...

I pay to renew the block explorer each month.

I pay for the hosting of the https://gapcoin.club website.

I pay for 10 cloud nodes which help to ensure bootstrapped network connectivity.

I spend countless hours doing background research, continuing development and doing outreach to folks who I think might be interested in the Gapcoin project.

Etc., etc.,

Even with my somewhat limited time and resources I'm confident I will make this project a success.

Remembering that I'm someone who contributed to early Bitcoin, who has continually watched over the entire crypto space.

Then do not send out spam... You were banned for a reason. On another note, I think its good that Gapcoin is managed exactly by you. In the long term, your ardor and commitment is everything Gapcoin needs to stay afloat and relevant to people with interest in underground projects. Roughly 3 years back, Pascal was pumped on poloniex like 10-20 times due to its novelty. Kinda hints at what could happen to similar niche coins.

Anyone who thinks that a few personal PM's sent over time equates to SPAM does not have a clue what real SPAM is.

Now go and try running a Tor exit node, you will soon learn what 'real' SPAM is!

...

Gapcoin is a functional Math based cryptocurrency, we do not need or require 'pump and dump' activities. Thank you.

At the current difficulty level you will likely find a good number of blocks per day with CPU / solo mining in the Gapcoin wallet.
With a Ryzen 1800x running flatout i mine less than 50 coins a day, so unless you have a much better miner it is a complete waste of time

Pooled mining for Gapcoin is possibly getting closer once more.
Below you say another pool for some competition, a first pool would be a start
I'd like to see the project with at least three stable exchange listings, a second block explorer and another mining pool for some competition first!  Wink
Also why on earth do we need a second explorer.....1 is plenty

Be careful with the 'old' GPU miner release, it has not really been tested for newer cards etc.,
Who cares about "newer" cards, nearly 2 years on and we still dont even have Nvidia miner, or an updated cpu miner

You do realize how much I'm doing behind the scenes to ensue the success of the Gapcoin project, despite all odds ?

Currently ...

I pay to renew the block explorer each month.
I pay for the hosting of the https://gapcoin.club website.
I appreciate this, BUT  why not also make available the option for people to donate to the cause? Most sites / explorers can have a simple BTC address where funds can be sent....

I pay for 10 cloud nodes which help to ensure bootstrapped network connectivity.
Completely pointless....the wallet needs to be open to mine this coin, so just allow the open wallets to be the backbone of the network, make available a monthly blockchain snapshot if requested....BUT absolutely no need to "PAY" for 10 nodes....complete nonesense, if the chain can't support itself with the open wallets, then it has no point being....

I spend countless hours doing background research, continuing development and doing outreach to folks who I think might be interested in the Gapcoin project.
I appreciate the hard work many people do behind the scenes for many coibs, BUT to be honest how many people care about the reason behind most projects. I am not slating GAPCOIN, but most coins, if you want to increase its chances of sucess, then you need 1000's of miners (supporters) not a few die-hard maths fans.....make the mining much more meaningful, and encourage the masses....let it pump n dump, let it do whatever it wants to do, but find a way to encourage the 100's / 1000's...the more u get mining it, the more GAPS they will find, the more MATHS they will do....
It would be interesting to know how many people are actively mining, and how many have the wallet open each day for say 1 month...then the truth will shine thru

1. Current or past value might not reflect future value i.e. probably not a complete waste of time.

2. Two block explorers are better than one or none. The same applies to exchanges.

3. You have clearly never 'fried' any of your hardware / cards !?

4. 'Donation' addresses will be added to the website.

5. The 10 cloud nodes I'm running do also CPU mine 24/7 and find blocks ... when the network is larger these will likely be reduced.

Most Gapcoin nodes / wallets are not port forwarded for incoming connections!

My https://gapcoin.club nodes have insured that this network has had a 'backbone' for a considerable duration.

6. Well aware of the chicken and egg situation that Gapcoin has been in since the original dev. passed away.

Compiling the daemon is still tricky on newer linux releases and that needs fixing with another new repo. now that Graham has also sadly gone.

The PoW-Core needs to be properly integrated, one issue being that much has changed with GitHub as well as some other factors for compiling the wallet software since the original releases.

Graham has actually done an excellent job in presenting exactly what needs to be done (in his thread posts) for anyone who picks this up.

Gapcoin needs a good 'team' of developers before much else and the much else is not really forthcoming because of this current situation.

Any other suggestions ?

The potential with Gapcoin is still immense!

That spam discussion thread is ridiculous, a forum that silences those who communicate.    The reason they act like that is simple triggering, rules above reason and I've fallen foul of that line of thinking on many forums and it gets ridiculous because admin can break even their own rules to ensure they are correct.   Everyone has self bias, Ive seen it many times across platforms; you will save time to let people chase their own tails and win.    I wouldn't get too wound up trying to sort out that nonsense, the problem is there without doubt a zombie army of spammers who have zero interest in crypto, its everywhere on every site.
I'd rate it alongside security systems which prevent correct users just as much as those trying to defraud the system.   So as a problem its a constant workload, dealing with fake vs real people is probably relevant again to discussions on blockchain workload.

My earliest post on Bitcoin I could find was June 2011 but not on this forum just a general tech forum and though I said I would mine it I didnt imagine it lasting long term due to no exact backing or formal link to currency or commodity.

Indeed. Good communication is the key.  Cheesy

I'm guessing that the whole point of open source coding and community lead crypto is that you are free to open any support channels you wish.
Please just remember to post anything of value in here to.
Thanks

I just opened a Gapcoin Discord (invite).

If someone actively involved in Gapcoin would like to get Mod/Admin roles, just send me messages in both Discord and BitcoinTalk. Else, I would be glad to manage this Discord as I do for Riecoin.

For now I use similar layout and rules as the Riecoin Discord. You need to post something in #Welcome in order to be able to post to all channels.

@PttnMe Thanks!

Delighted for you to hold the reins at present, so to speak ...
