Don't forget that the foundation is still holding >2M HZ  Each transaction for the webserver has a message inside, you can check the price at that time to figure out if the amounts were correct. 45€ a month at a BTC price of 250€ and a HZ price of 20 Satoshis took its toll.
The node bounty went on for everyone until the account was dry. There's been no special treatment for single accounts.

The 40M were invested in the silver and adsactly assets long before the pump, and the coins were sold immideately. We're getting good interest and will move to a cheaper server soon, so this step has secured the future of the foundation.

Nobody but those two subcommunities cared for HZ since a year or so. You've all been invited to the slack to discuss with us. But I know, complaining is easier Wink

Here is orignial Horizon thread. I have no time to follow slack of every single coin. Time zones also not helping this. IMO if you do something with money from dustribution you can write here. Everyone can read this regardless of time zones or other things. Many people host horizon nodes in their own data centers, including me can help with hosting website or something. 45 Eur/month ? Where? I am 100% sure that i can find something cheaper. Unless is your own hosting?

This is a thread in a forum I don't follow. The official place is slack, like it or not.

//edit: I agree that the asset investment should've been announced, or generally handled more transparently. Shit's down the drain though, when we did that we never expected anyone to care (and without the pump nobody would).

Threat blocked

Screenshot ...

Avast often reports false alarms.

That screenshot warns about a connection to http://nhz.ydns.eu/ - which is just a HZ wallet, version 5.4

Cryptocurrencies work by P2P networks between client computers. Blocking such connections stops cryptocurrencies from working. Avast needs to learn.

To become relaxed about it, I suggest you deinstall Avast, and install a different antivirus, and then see whether that one reports an alarm too.

And yes, a windows machine is not the safest host for cryptocurrencies, unless you have an advanced level of understanding, and do your due diligence.

Here is a very good and cheap alternative: Get a raspberry pi tinycomputer, and run that separate computer only for your wallets:

OK is Honored with the new cross collaboration with Horizon:

showing Real commitment to their communities to support long term adoption.

I agree that the asset investment should've been announced, or generally handled more transparently.
True.

The linked RokOS purchase had already shown how clever a consensus can be reached to spend such collectivized funds (via phased transaction). How come the foundation fell back below that?  Public is good. And if only because other HZ projects might have stepped forward if it had been handled in public. Public is good in any case.

Here is orignial Horizon thread. I have no time to follow slack of every single coin.
Same for me. All types of non-async communication is mainly a time eater. Good to quickly coordinate stuff, but only for a core team.
(I had joined slack & discord now, to find out if anyone understands the pump, but I can not afford to be there often I guess).

I understand that from the low volume in this thread you had assumed "no one" is reading it, which is not true for me by the way, I had been here often, checking what is going on.

But anyways ... the foundation have spent most remaining funds to support those 2 active HZ projects. So that's done. I'd say let's move on:

IMHO those 2 projects should now publish a detailed report how they are using and will be spending the funds to take care of HZ - and publish that, and also here in this thread.

Hello darlingz, maybe some of you hero-members can help me out with a solution.  Kiss

I manage a private fund that is currently worth 530 Bitcoins in real value. We have issued an HZ-asset, a dividend-share - but here is the problem: The current Market-Cap for Horizon is only 199 Bitcoins.

If we are to pay our investors back their money at some point, we will have a real serious problems on our hands as our clients trade our HZ-asset/shares with other people... So if we are to liquidate the fund, we would need to set up a private coin/swap in order to buy back the HZ-assets in Bitcoins since our funds value is higher then the value of the entire HZ-network and therefore makes it mathematical impossible to use it for the purpose it was intended.

If I get my point across

Current price of HZ is 20 satoshi which means that our 530 Bitcoin-fund in HZ is worth 2 789 473 684 (2.7 Billion HZ) but there is only less then 1 Billion HZ in total.

Also - On Bittrex & Poloniex combined, the orderbooks are so thin that we would move the price too much upwards when we are to pay out our investors, and they would bring the price back down selling HZ for Bitcoins which makes the usecase even worse in this current situation.

In order for HZ to work as a platform there needs to be a higher price-cap with enough resistance and harder buy-support to make these transactions possible or the only ones who can use this network will be the smallest of accounts with no room to grow.

Probably the solution is to have people buy the asset USING HZ instead of selling to them for bitcoins.

I have been looking into a lot of similar situations myself, in looking for platforms other than Open Transactions that I could use for at least some of the assets you see listed at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html

Provided the platform does actually turn out to provide buyers for your asset(s), the fact that the built-in trading system seems to insist that HZ itself must be one of the assets in each traded pair should force HZ up in value because the price per unit of your asset will be such that buying all the units would take more HZ than actually exist. So over time there should be less and less HZ that have not already been used to buy your asset.

My use cases however are typically simpler than yours, because historically I have preferred not to use a dividends system, for one thing I do not like the sawtoothed waves it tends to create in prices as people price in the time remaining to the next dividend payout and the expected amount of that payout. I have preferred to have people have to actually sell some of the asset in order to cash out, so I like to have assets accumulate their earnings, increasing the value of each unit of the asset.

In Open Transactions you get to choose which asset you want to pay out as dividends, it sounds like maybe part of your problem might be that in HORIZON you can only pay out HZ as dividends, instead of getting to choose any existing asset to be your payout-currency at any given payout-time?

If you do get to choose, then just ensure an asset exists, such as NHZBITCOINS or whatever, that is worth enough that it can handle the value you want to pay out.

For me I would probably first put some non-dividend-bearing currencies such as CDN, MBC, NKL or whatever onto the platform, some that are valuable enough to handle any dividends I want to pay out, before bothering to put any dividend-paying assets onto the platform. (Then pay out dividends in those currencies. At least until HZ itself becomes valuable enough to use for paying dividends.)

I do want to find a good solution, because currently Open Transactions has had some development slowdowns that are getting to be a real drag, and I need to make the stuff shown at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html much more accessible...

I am still looking at whether HORIZON would work for any of the assets shown at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html

I have described before in this thread some aspects of my use-cases, here is some more...

Take a look at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/companies.html

It shows what various SHARES (as distinct from CURRENCIES) are valued at, based on what the assets of each company add up to given the supposed values of the assets that company holds.

I have chosen to display the value in dDVC (digiDeVCoins, that is, Open Transactions assets that represent actual DeVCoins) because typically devcoins are the lowest-valued coin we commonly use, thus provide the greatest "granularity" for expressing values.

Those values can be expressed in terms of other currencies and shares ("assets") by use of the conversion rates given in http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/latestrates.inc

Obviously there are far from enough actual DeVCoins in existence to buy everything; the values in terms of DeVCoins are using DeVCoins as a "unit of account", not based on how many DeVCoins you could actually lay hands on at any given time. One of the uses of the Current Rates file is to figure out how much a given value of one thing would come out to if expressed in terms of another thing, so that for example if there are not enough DeVCoins on hand you could instead use some other coin, or some share, or some combination.

The conundrum is how best to integrate HORIZON into the family of assets shown at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html

Or actually I guess it is the other way around: how to integrate those assets into HORIZON...

Given that we use DeVCoins as a "unit of account" so much, maybe one of the first things we should do is to set up that open source HORIZON-based exchange thing I recall having looked into long ago, if it is working reliably yet? As I recall it was a system for setting up websites that provided gateways into and out of HORIZON whereby blockchain-based coins could be turned into HORIZON-ASSETS and vice-versa, to kind of make hzDVC tokens for example comparable to the dDVC tokens we use in Open Transactions to represent and deal with DeVCoins?

Great idea. And I think we have potentials to attract more assets into HZ when NXT stops developing and HZ will hopefully be the most active classic-NXT platform.

Are there any sites currently running the coin gateway stuff, as I recall when I looked into it in the past it was in use to implement at least one exchange?

Is that still running? Does the code even actually work?

I just now got around to trying to set up HORIZON again, so I went to the website and downloaded the public node code from its getting Horizon page...

...Then when I went to move it to a machine to run it on I noticed that what I used to run was version 5.4 but this "latest" version fresh from the site is version 5.2 !

What the heck? Did we revert back to an old version for some reason or what???

I figured that one way around the "the entire caboodle of this asset would add up to more HZ than there are in existence" problem is to create a Corp or Fund type thing that will hold holdings and have a fixed number of shares. So instead of for example saying this thing will own ten billion of such and such a coin then try to sell that many worth, we say this Corp or Fund will be buying such and such types of things, it has a fixed number of shares, and will buy as much of those things as it can with the capital it raises by sale of shares.

So with that in mind I have initially created HZCorp, asset ID 16122537733740233079, with one million shares, and created an info page about it at http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/hzcorp/

Then I went on to also create HZDIA, asset ID 15869904380337942274, also with one million shares, with info page at http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/hzdia/

Two more assets created:

GMCDEU, asset ID 9337852314245790880, info page http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/gmcdeu/index.html

GRFDEU, asset ID 1237155965562036291, info page http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/grfdeu/index.html

These are used for accounting units of DEUterium stored at depots run by GMC Corp and by GRF Corp respectively.

The assets were issued by the Gamemaster, in insanely huge quantities, to ensure there should always be enough to account the actual amounts of DEUterium in the depots.

Quantities are doled out to GMC and GRF by the Gamemaster to match the actual amounts of DEUterium those two Corps actually have on hand in their depots.

Thus the units held by the issuing account do not count, they are simply spare tokens available to be issued to the depot managers as and when more DEUterium arrives in the depots.

The prices shown at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/deuterium.html apply to both Corps' stores of DEUterium.

These assets are important to nations in the Galactic Milieu because hosting fees for nations are accounted in units of DEUterium.

I am also working on the details for initial issuance of HZGROW, a growth fund concentrating on stake-able coins and speculative, currently very low price coins that have a lot of room to move up in price. Once I have a full list of all the things the fund is going to own I will be able to figure out its initial value. I am working on its info page currently at http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/hzgrow/index.html

I tried to issue some currencies but there seems to be a bug that makes it keep insisting the currency name is already in use.

The first currency I made worked, the second it seemed to say the name was in use but created it anyway, or maybe the mouse clicked twice creating it then trying to create it again and finding the name was already in use, then ever since all names are already supposedly in use. I killed and restarted the server, that didn't fix it, so I deleted browser tab and visited the server from a new tab but that didn't fix it either.

I really does not seem to care what name I try to use, it always claims it is already used.

I am using server version 1.54

I even killed the whole browser and restarted it and even that did not fix it.
