Someone buys shares.. places the ticker on GLBSE and we can play around with trading it? Dumb idea? Too many fees, taxes, government bull***?

Sometimes I'd like to play the other stock market but don't feel like going through all the crap.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

The problem with that is that anyone trying to mirror regular world stocks by hedging with their trading platform of choice is probably in violation of the TOS of that platform.

However, if someone wanted to set up CFDs based on regular stocks using the GLBSE platform, that would be no problem.

Looks like even those are illegal in the US.

Yeah probably not a good idea to put anything related to that other stock market anywhere near the GLBSE.. It really doesn't need any unwanted attention

Deep down I don't think too many of us are all that worried about that.

But to this I would concur.

Stay away from this.   You start doing this and you will see regulation at a speed you have never seen.  BAD IDEA

This would be possible through derivatives without anyone owning anything real

But maybe only for major indices, such as S&P500 eminis. I think this is already being worked on
