Well... I personally like better Air Penetrators by Silverstone, moreover in an open environment, because they can focus the airflow towards the heatsinks.

This above is just my humble opinion, of course.

I believe since it is an open-air rig you'll have no restrictions, so static pressure isn't going to matter.

For what it's worth, I'm using a Noctua NF-P12-1300 fan for my cpu that seems pretty nice and quiet.

I've always been quiet happy with the:

Why? It's a great mixture of silent, cheap and pushes air when it's needed.
It's not hard here in the UK to pick them up for £3.50 - £4.00

It's black framed with white blades and has a thermal sensor.
Most of the time it's silent and at max it is still a whisper at 24db and that pushes about 55CFM.

Actually I've not been all that impressed with their 140mm series so far. Not a huge improvement in airflow, but at max, noticeably louder.
Not worth it, I prefer sticking to the 120mm for all round performance/silence/cost.

They already do 140mm fans, the F14. They be named by their measurement in cm. Not sure of any F12 that is 140mm. It would be a F14.

All the F12 and F14's are the same (in the above info), some come with slightly different add-on attachments, but the core stuff above is identical.

It's about double the price going from F12 to the F14. So you gain a whooping (sarcasm) 2.7 CFM with an increase of 0.2 Sone. Which works out to be approximately 2db. It's still consider quiet since that is about 24 - 25db. Which is close to background noise is most peoples home.
It appears they tried to retain as much of the design and parts from the F12 and just made it bigger without properly adjusting the parts.
As you no longer see any useful increase going up to 140mm, they should of used a bigger motor or a lighter/better fan blade design.

In short the F12 is a good deal. Don't bother with the F14.

Not a huge fan of the Scythe. There MTBF is only 3 years. Not the sort of fan I'd want to be running 24/7.
If I remember rightly the Arctic F12 is nearer to 6 years. Also the performance/noise is better in comparison.

I got them partly b/c they were on sale at the time. The LED leads are easy to clip if you don't want LED. Not saying they are better than other options suggested here, but I've been happy with them. Very quite and do the job of keeping my cards cool.

I've used there aluminium series before, awesome fans. Easy to make quiet, but has a lot of power if needed.

Very quiet for their rotation speeds - I use the 140mm Blacknoise Silent Pro PK3 fans and at 1700RPM the motor noise is totally thwarted by the whooshing of air rushing through the fan.

The 6 year warranty and declared MTBF of up to 180000 hours do confirm that the manufacturer did an awesome job with the fan bearing.

Some AirPenetrator fans by Silverstone are capable of delivering very decent airflow (I love the gargantuan 180mm fans that came with my Raven case) but they are noticeably louder than their Noiseblocker equivalents.

When I had first started out mining, I didn't really know what I was looking for so I picked up some Scythe Slipstream for dirt cheap. I got all googly eyed over the 110cfm rating, but with only a 30,000 MTBF, I've already had 1 fail on me in 8 months.

I'm gonna pick up those Cougar Vortex ones and try them out.
