I agree.   ISO would be good.  But from what I heard about ISO recently (last 10 years), they are corrupt, meaning, you pay them their fee, wine and dine them, make some minor improvements and incorporate some minor suggestions, and you get your ISO certificate.  It's a scam.  But, I agree, it would make BTC seem more legit to some, so it's good PR.

I think we need to reserve an ISO code, but I do think think having an ISO code helps mass adoption. Let's say we will have XBT registered tomorrow, databases and across the world gets an extra entry, and then what? No more are going to sudden support bitcoin because of it. It's good to have it, but not necessary at this moment.

I would much prefer to have BTC, but I can easily adapt to anything that sounds similar to that.

It needs. The mass like and trust it. It doesn't matter it is named XBT. At least XBT complies to their rules. Ppl will adapt to it.
