Second, I'd be interested in how most of you are obtaining your stones.  I have just traded in other crypto I have mined over at Cryptopia.  Is there a place where you can just buy PHS with straight up USD? (I don't think so )

Third, some of the grammar on the website is just a tad "off", to be respectful.  Some words that should be plural are not and such.  Any interest in me help clean anything, please let me know.

As long as we get 50% p.a. (POS) the easiest way to get more stones is staking/minting. Buy some stones put it in your PC- or Raspi-wallet, relax and look again to your wallet after 9 days . (Could take a longer time with a small amount of stones [if less then 5000 for example])

As far as I know, no exchanges credit PoS interest, as that only happens on the individual wallet level.

Sure, this is why I have written "PC- or Raspi-wallet". It makes no sense to keep the stones at cryptopia for a longer period of time.

At one point I sent myself my entire wallet in order to consolidate the interest payments. A tactic I would not attempt again, but the program knew that the transaction came from "self" and now most of my minting is titled "self" or "cryptopia"

Yes, this makes it easier for you to track your rewards. The titles of your incoming addresses are only program-internal. Do you have privacy concerns with the wallet itself? If yes, feel free to read the source code and compile it from source

I've got my Raspberry Pi up and running however when I start the wallet I receive this error:

   libpng warning: iccp: known incorrect sRGB profile.

I have found how to fix it but can't find the image files, does anyone know where they are stored?

Generally speaking, Linux will tend to give you warnings about anything that is _potentially_ going wrong, but most of the time it will work anyway -- that is, if it's labelled as a warning and not as an error.
For a reference, I doubt I've ever been compiling anything except small code examples without getting warnings about all sorts of things -- most of the time you can just ignore it.
Though, if you can fix this warning, you should consider opening an issue on the GitHub, any help should be welcome :-)

At the moment the wallets seem to run quite good (no complaints here).
But I have planned one or two commits this year (depends on my freetime)
Maybe Vlatk is working on an mobile wallet and on updating the website.
Maybe Palmdetroid has some additional idea.

But the biggest commit for PHS would be just using it for buying something of your friends
or for paying donations for example for donationware-software and so on.

Additionnaly, if anyone here can afford it, running a full node sounds like a sensible idea.
I don't think there's many of them, maybe only about 6, and from what I hear it's absolutely necessary for the network to be operational.
I'm running one of those on a small fanless computer that consumes only 10W, and it doesn't cost much CPU, a bit of memory though.
I was strongly encouraged by one of the devs to do so, he said the network was still fragile and needed investment by the members.
It only takes minor changes in the config file, AND for the machine to be running most of the time (people will be connecting to your place, so you can't shutdown without notice).
If you're running something like a miner, or a home web server, or what not, then it has little overhead, and it's one more chance that the network will survive.
I'm available for questions about this, though more experienced members of the community could probably explain a lot more.

And +1 for using PHS for actual trades, though we must be sprinkled over between North America and Europe, and there's little chance we're going to find opporunities... Maybe Cryptopia trade is the best option towards that, so whoever wants to do this should keep an eye on announcements quoted in PHS.

Thank you for your full node network support. I run a full node since January 2018, too.
I guess if there were more userfriendly documentation about how to run a full node we would have more full nodes...especially because the PHS-wallet is available as an ARM-CPU (Raspberry Pi) version.

Yes, well, that's about all you need:
- open the stated port on your firewall
- edit config file to run as a full node (and restart)

You should see the number of connections rising to about 30, over a matter of minutes.
And then you should be running the node most of the time, as continuously as possible.

I got that much from toxtox as well, while I was setting up Philosopherstone-qt under Linux. Great thanks to him, otherwise Linux people would get stuck...

"full node" means that you allow outbound connections to other nodes (wallets) for sharing your local copy of the blockchain. This stabilizes the network and increases the trustworthy of the blockchain.
But for running your wallet as a "full node" you must either enable UPNP in your router and your wallet or you can manually open the port 16281 in your router.

You can click on the bar chart with the number of connections (right lower corner) in order to view the details of your connections. If you have outbound connections you have a full node.
Or if your total number of connections is much more then 10 (e.g. 18 or 35) than you mast have full node too.
