Ive used Bitstamp since I started this. I havent encountered any problems too.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Keep in mind any exchange can close at any time and steal all your coins.  It's happened many times already.

Only keep coins in the exchange long enough to convert them, then withdraw,

Well said. We have all seen what happen when a big exchange has problem with customers' bitcoins.
When keeping your coins in exchanges, you don't have the private keys and so you won't be able to get any of your bitcoin back when the exchanges disappear and have problems.

The best exchange site for me is localbitcoins and btc-e. I like btc-e because they don't need your docs and other confidential infos.

Hi, I just got my first bitcoins on bitstamp, i would like to know if there are others sites of bitcoins exchange !! I know btc-e, it is good ? if you know others, please tell me, thank you all

Have you tried asmoney.com? They have really strict security and they are reallly good, I've been using their service for about a month now and I've han 0 problems so far, but I doubt there will be something wrong. Cheesy Try it.
