I am not surprised they are having some issues, I doubt it will be a long term issue as they should be able to fix the problem/s.

HAHA stupid apple.

Old news, but did you even read the article?  Obviously not since it was a B of A issue.

Why let facts get in the way of bashing Apple.

What a disgrace for a company with over half a trillion market cap! One may get the impression that Apple's top priority is just getting the design right with all things beneath the surface barely working.

Compared to Apple Pay, Bitcoin Core as beta software which is totally underfunded looks like a fortress of security. All what's left to do for Bitcoin is getting the "design right" to appeal to mainstream. Oldschool Paypal-clones like Apple Pay are not here to stay, because the box of cryptocurrencies has been opened.

Quote from: the article in the OP
“We apologize for the inconvenience and are correcting this issue immediately and all duplicates will be refunded,” Tara Burke, a spokeswoman for the Charlotte, North Carolina-based bank, said in a phone interview. Burke declined to say how many accounts were affected or on what network the transactions were processed.

This is not quite the same as a "double spend" in Bitcoin terminology. Also customers are not actually inuring any financial loss as a result of this as they are being reimbursed for the 2nd charge

It sucks for the people who couldn't pay rent or car note until they get reimbursed. Those late fees can be hundreds of dollars and I bet they don't get that back along with their money that got doublespent using centralized payment systems with unreliable 3rd parties.

Gotta love one of its comments:

"Apple customers are used to paying double, so they didn't even notice."

Apple really jumped the shark with ApplePay. It will be hard to ever take them seriously again.

It's beyond ridiculous for bitcoiners to celebrate because apple pay is having technical issues.

1. Apple pay and bitcoin don't compete with each other. Bitcoin isn't a company nor a product. It's a technology. For all we know apple pay might start using bitcoins in the background in a few years.
2. It would be a blessing for the bitcoin community if apple manages to shift consumer's behavior on how they pay for things.

We're not celebrating Apple's failure, we're laughing at it. Okay, so putting a camera on a phone was pretty cool, but putting all my account information online with a portable device is just silly. Apple had security issues in the past. They should stick to adding functionality to phones like TV remotes, walkie talkies, or Star Trek Tricorders.

Well, in theory, their security issues have nothing to do with their phones, only their (optional) services they offer for the phones they sell. They claim that the phones have encryption that cannot be broken by law enforcement. Although the fact that they allow a 4 digit PIN to be used for your password would make it so that there are only 10,000 potential passwords (actually 9,999), plus the fact that your finger print can be used as a password would make it easy for an attacker to force you to unlock the phone for them (they just need to force you to put your finger on the fingerprint scanner
