they were not selling, and I don't really need the cash at the moment.. so I figured might as well keep them in cold storage..

Anyone have any idea why?

Yeah, I know exactly why: NO TRADING API.

The printing press heralded the end of the Dark Ages and made the Enlightenment possible, but it took another three centuries before any country managed to put freedom of the press beyond the reach of legislators.  So it may take a while before cryptocurrencies are free of the AML-NSA-KYC surveillance plague.

Wow, I've only been using Virtex for a couple of months but I can't recall ever seeing buy orders this large:

I feel really fortunate that I was able to get the majority of my coins under $5 - I don't see it dipping back down that low anytime soon. At this point I'd be jumping for joy at $5.20 CAD. Come on weekend dip  Grin

ya I've been using Virtex since it come out.
I've only seen the order books get filled with increasingly larger orders
its feel like, even if mtgox goes back to 5.3x, Virtex will only drop to 5.2x

What do you think could be behind this? People rushing to convert large amounts of fiat into Bitcoins before it takes off? Or some form of shenanigans?   Grin

i would think Virtex  gets more day traders over time
and the day traders are increasing theirs order size over time

i would imagine this is the same story in all bitcoin markets

Makes sense. I also think more and more people are going to start dumping fiat money and flocking to Bitcoin as world economic conditions continue to deteriorate.

Virtex has been trading below the MtGox price for quite a while now. Seriously MtGox USD 5.63. Virtex ask 5.45 CAD or 5.31 USD. That is a 5.7% difference. I have seen the spread even higher. A great place to buy Bitcoin at market.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card
