I've been using Bitcoin since I first heard about it few years ago. I run a miner that doesn't generate a profit but I keep it running at home just so I can contribute towards keeping the network healthier and so I can tell people about Bitcoin when they ask me "What is that thing?" but everytime I tried explaining it to people, it has been met with skepticism and stupid arguments to which I try explaining to them as clearly as possible but the most common and valid question I get is "What can I do with it?", which is what I have trouble with. How do I answer that? I would love to take all my friends out to a grand dinner and pay the whole bill with Bitcoin so they can see it for themselves how easy it really is to make an electronic payment right from your smartphone without using a credit card and the numerous advantages that this technology offers but there doesn't seem to be a single physical establishment anywhere that accepts Bitcoin.

Businesses will be reluctant to accept it because there doesn't seem to be many people using it. People are reluctant because there are no businesses that accept it. What can we do about this? How can we as normal users start talking to business owners about accepting Bitcoins and open themselves up to a new stream of revenue from potential customers? Are there even merchant services for Indian businesses where they can accept Bitcoins at cheaper rates than credit cards?

I have never been to a Bitcoin meetup and I have no idea what goes on there but the fact that there isn't even one physical store that accepts it really makes me question if Bitcoin has a future here or if I should pack my bags and go to some country where my Bitcoins actually have some value. I have no interest in selling it back to worthless fiat currency.

Bitcoin price fluctuation is too unpredictable atm and it is one the obstacles that might hinder people from investing in it.

Greater stability will come with more investors and regulation but just like any market there are crashes.

From an investment perspective that can happen in any market but if bitcoin has to be used in daily life , then there has to be some price stability.

Actually we can't say anything.. Indian govt. has all in hand.. If they legalise BITCOIN than the world will be something diff. but RBI is continously saying no to this proposal. Let's See what happens next.. But I guess BTC has a nice future on a global scenario

Definitely it has a future in India. Basically the thing is the people in India are not aware about the bitcoins yet once they are aware about it they will definitely entertain bitcoins at present indians are very much involved in investing in stock market thats the only thing they know.

Yes Bitcoin has a future in India but it wont be as fast as western countries because in India Most of the people are not aware about the concept of bitcoins but once the level of awareness goes high future of bitcoins will also go high and the scenario would be different in next 5 years.

I believe it's 50-50 right now. You can't make an exact perception whether Bitcoin has a future in India or not. Just look at the India's population there is high level of unemployment every one is busy in finding a work for living so it will take time for indians to think different.

Bitcoin's not around for that long in our country as long as it is known in western world. It might take some time to popularize it but let's have our fingers crossed, it will have a bright future here too. Smiley

Indians doesn't know what bitcoin is. Once they start knowing and show their willingness i think it has a great future. But the Govt Of India will play a major role in it whether to accept it or not Hopefully the new PM of country believes in change so lets see what decision is made up.

I think that the willingness and interest towards bitcoin has already started in India. Check it out http://www.coindesk.com/record-attendence-india-seminar-reveals-keen-interest-bitcoin/... such seminars can indeed help and contribute in he rising of bitcoin awareness in India.  Smiley Smiley

Why it is in off-topic OP ? It can easily go on main board and will attract more responses and discussion.

You can move it to main board or ask mod to do it.
