The expected Ethereum move to proof-of-stake may be nearing completion, as developers just published probable dates for the mainnet merging.

The developers have been delaying the transition of Ethereum from the proof of work to the proof of stake consensus model for years, but the complete transition to Ethereum 2.0 is now close to becoming a reality after the final trial run was successfully executed on the Goerli network earlier this week.

The likely date was revealed after core developers such as Tim Beiko and Prysmatic Labs co-founder Terence Tsao agreed in an Aug. 11 developer call that the change will be place when the Total Terminal Difficulty (TTD) reaches 58750000000000000000000.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Yes it is almost strange to see that it's not delayed one more time  Grin
Vitalik said that gas fees shoud be low as 0.02usd after some time after the merge.

Maybe it is off topic but I wonder how it will influence ETC difficulty and price ? Do you have a opinion about that ?
