We're now discussing the block in which the algorithm it's going to change from Scrypt-N to X11.

We're working hard to have a solid and useful CATc

CataloniaCoin is a currency that can be minted by anyone, anywhere and anytime. After the IPO-Stage (ends today at 23:59:59) anyone can start mining the coin (Scrypt-N algorithm). After that, we're going to start working on the new algorithm change. We're going to implement X11 PoW+PoS hybrid algorithm to the coin.

Some Bitcointalk members were testing aspects like the security.
In a PoS/PoW hybrid there is no way to predict or control whether or not the next block will be PoS or PoW and therefore you cannot guarantee you will be in control of a long stream of blocks unless you have 51% of the PoW and PoS power, ensured every time with the mining-process. If you don't know the next block verification, this is a security plus

I don't understand how this thread serves as a recommendation for a pow/pos hybrid as it ends with the Mintcoin team deciding to switch to pure PoS after some of the Blackcoin team exposed vulnerabilities in the system.

It is PoW/PoS with PoW being gradually phased out as the block rewards from PoW decrease. Quite a complex topic, but seems like a good way to ensure fair distribution of the remaing CaTc whilst protecting it against any attacks if the mining hash rate was to drop significantly.

I've bought some CATc's too and I've been reading the link that both of you posted.
IMAO all the coins that we're talking about are suspectable to 51% attacks and I think that Blackcoin devs and users explained in the past some vulnerabilities just to spread FUD on other cryptocurrencies ANN's like the Mintcoin one.

As well, to make an attack on a PoW+PoS hybrid you have to control the hash and the coin age, while in a pure POS coin like blackcoin only need to control coin age… and with that hybrid system the next block can be PoW or PoS as @CataloniaDev post some days ago, I think.

Am I right in thinking its 16 CATc per block every 2 minutes? making it 480 coins per hour, 11520 per day and 4204800 per year?
At that rate its going to get all mined out pretty quick and most likely dumped on exchanges.

This could be a problem similar to that which MaxCoin had, they eventually choked of the supply to mimic the inflation curve similar to Bitcoin, interesting charts here http://maxcoinnews.net/maxcoin-public-service-announcement-19082014/

Maybe now with the reduction in coins and changing of the algo the block reward should be adjusted also?

With the new algorithm change we're reconsidering aspecs like the one you've quoted before @johnloco.

Obviously we're working on a solid project so coin is going to mantain a mining base but with a new algorithm and aspirations. blockreward is going to be re-adjusted because all the total supply is going to be readjusted too.

Franckuestein you are one of the main followers  and leaders of PTC, how can you be here? I mean you work closely with PTC that is a national Spanish coin and now isn a catalan national coin? are you working on both projects? I mean if this coins is for independence , will catalan people believe in this coin if PTC people are behind?

Hi @CECVW. I don't know why you post this here and not using a direct message, lol.

Now, I'm not on the Pesetacoin dev-team. I've been helping them with the new "foundation", graphical design, websites… too (but just like helping-hands haha - Never on the "core" team, just making graphics as a donation). Now I'm not following it too much. As well, I've never been a leader or follower of anything. I don't like to call me as a "leader", haha. This is the cryptocurrency world! An open one

IMAO Pesetacoin after the appearance of the foundation has become a fully centralized coin. With just ~20-30 members knowing all the development that's going on with it and not-accepting the other people reviews about the coin on the Announcement. As well you can't say (foundation members) that to use a currency, people won't consider the algorithm, or avoid the current minting situation with a pool minting the ~90% of the totalcoins/day.  

I just one to point one thing: They're very respectable and hard-working people. Of course one can't take decisions but if they believe that that's fine, I'll hope the same.



I prefer to be a simple miner or user rather than doing all in secret or by a group of people. People deserve to know EVERYTHING about the current development… you know? As easy as that  
I've been on the previous CataloniaCoin ANN and that's why I like to see the new development that's going on with It. (I've previously seen CATc on the spanish sub-forum) just that. I've never been part of any "core" development team 
The first one (PTC) is integrated by the "foundation" people and CataloniaCoin (CATc) I think that's developed by some catalonia people

Scrypt-N algorithm is not very used now and we have more algorithms implemented like the X11 one with anonymity and great projects behind it.

Blocks are reduced, that's great! And more value for the coin, I like that decision! 1% annual PoS, so good

I know that comparisons may be odious or dear but the only currency that you can use to compare with Catc is Auroracoin (AUR), made for use in Iceland. This coin has had its ups and downs (not the BTC). But today it seems to be picking up volume and climbing in price.
