You will never ROI so as an investment, bad idea. For hobby/fun sure.

I wouldn't go for it - at the current price even with free power chances are quite low you'd be making money on an investment like that.

Seems like the days of mining are over for small miners unless you have free power and a cheap source of miners, then you might be able to make a little bit of profit. Another option would just be investing in bitcoin directly, if you feel that would be a good investment.

Hardware is too expensive because the manufacturers smell big demand and are pumping prices to the limit. With what they are asking at the moment no hardware is profitable. Some may ROI but what's the point of buying a unit that will give you back your money in a year. Next year bitcoin may be worth $200 or $2000 so think if you will feel better holding a miner or coins when this happens.
