The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Yes. Alot of people Remote Desktop to their mining rigs. This means as soon as they close the RDP connection, it essentially locks the computer.

Not if you use a graphical screensaver - it will slow down the mining. Best is a plain black screen.
