Vpn + extensions such as noscript, http everywhere etc
or Tor?
Tor is more likely to be compromised than the millions & millions of VPNS available which pop up every hour.

depends what for?
important stuff like bank accounts and forums the a good secure VPN. browsing the web and pissing off governments then TOR wins hands down. TOR also has the dark web. VPNs arnt immune to attack some of them use openVPN wich is free and has a small dev team so if theres every a hole in it it will take them a while to plug it while TOR has a fair sized dev team and are dedicated to the project so takes less time for holes to be plugged..
like i say it all depends what your after it for and most VPN's cost money

I vote TOR. VPN requires trust, TOR does not.

I thought as much but with a lot of people saying that Tor isn't very secure because of certain exit nodes being compromised and some people have lost Bitcoin....although I don't know if that is accurate and maybe they just lost because they had a weak password etc and blamed it on Tor.

there are a few compromised TOR exit nodes and people have had funds stolen from there accounts as the exit node pretty much gets to see everything your doing. thats why its common practice not to use TOR for anything sensitive like bank info and forums.

What would be wrong with accessing your VPN through TOR which you then used to access a second VPN? Any advantage to it? Disadvantage would be speed of connection.

Tor exit node could still be compromised it doesn't really have any benefits for accessing forums etc it's just another step of hiding your identity. VPNS are probably better to access forums etc.

VPN through your own boxes? Good idea, if you have a different ISP for each one.

What about your own Tor node (not exit node as they are potentially dangerous to run because of legal issues) but a entry point? Would that give you more security? I'm sure the raspberry pi is capable running it 24/7 and you could have your very own Tor entry point.
Same as a VPN use the raspberry pi to run it and you have your own...which is probably the best but I guess you cant switch IPS etc.

They can get you if the VPN fails to protect you.
In other hand, Tor exit nodes are known so they can block Tor visitors.
Maybe send the packets by tor to a VPN, so the VPN will be like a non trackable exit node?
(does this even makes sense?)

Yes, I believe you can chain TOR and VPNs. Haven't read up on the effectiveness of it though. Sounds like it would be really slow too.
