Although I understand the need to filter new user's it is very fustrating that I cannot post immediately like I need too, Slush's pool is experiencing DDOS problems and I need to ask for some advice on the Stratum.

Chris, i managed to get rid of the problems setting up my cgminer with fallback scheme like this (quoting config file):

      "url" : "http://api2.bitcoin.cz:8332",
      "user" : "someuser",

      "pass" : "somepass"
   }
]


Main stratum url is reported dead, but cgminer actually managed to connect to stratum through api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 url. Try it, it can help.
