Agreed! FACTOM is meant exactly to stop this sort of issue! Panama Papers are a gigantic leak, fireworks incoming soon. The leaked files show the firm regularly offered to backdate documents to help its clients gain advantage in their financial affairs Thanks! I hadn't noticed this. I am also working on a blogpost about trusted timestamping as a possible motivator for Bitcoin. I will use this as an example of the failures of trusted timestamping. You're welcome. I doubled my position in Factom after reading that. I believe as the magnitude of the fraud and corruption are shown via the Panama Papers, people will come to understand the importance of having auditable, verifiable documents and Factom will lead the way in that regard. I hope your marketing team seizes upon this opportunity. At the very least, a video would be useful. I look forward to your blog post.

Agree this is huge for BTC and all Cryptos because of transparency and trace-ability.

Does anyone know, if it is possible to set a password in the gui-client? I can't find it.
There are 2 ways to protect your wallet. 1) use file encryption for the factoid_wallet_bolt.db file. Here are some successors to the defunct truecrypt, which would have been a good option: https://www.maketecheasier.com/truecrypt-alternatives/wallet passwords and file encryption will only protect against casual attackers. If a hacker really wants your private keys, they will wait until you type in your password, then will get it. 2) To store for the long term with the best security use a paper wallet. https://www.factom.com/howto/factoidpapermill/thank you for clarification.

Exactly! And FACTOM will solve the problem in a far more efficient way than would throwing ten bajillion more regulations on the sector.

This could be really great for Factom: R3CEV Partners with Microsoft to Boost Banks’ Blockchain Adoption
Microsoft has recently entered into a strategic partnership with R3CEV to offer its Azure cloud-based infrastructure for the development of blockchian solutions. (...) According to a press release, Microsoft and R3CEV have struck a deal to use the former’s Azure cloud platform for implementing blockchain infrastructure being developed for the banking sector. Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform is already well-known for both the quality and security. Thousands of well-established companies, as well as startups, are currently using Microsoft Azure to host their services. Recently, Microsoft included blockchain as a service (BaaS) solutions to its Azure platform, which immediately gained a lot of traction. (...) The use of Microsoft’s Azure services by R3CEV and banking consortium will give then access to the company’s fast-growing blockchain technology offerings which already includes the likes of Ethereum, Ripple, Factom, Alphapoint, LibraTax and more. x-posted from Qora thread: ...I'd highly encourage everyone to read today's news article "Microsoft, Major Banks Strike Blockchain Deal" featured on CNBC, a major US-based news outlet:In case you haven't read today's news, Ethereum and Ripple were featured in a news article on CNBC (a major news outlet in the USA) because they were part of MS Azure BaaS program. The news article was featured on the front page of the CNBC for most of the day. You can read about the news report here: Microsoft, Major Banks Strike Blockchain Deal http://www.cnbc.com/2016/04/04/microsoft-major-banks-strike-blockchain-deal.htmlPlease pay attention to the last paragraph: R3 and its members will have access to Microsoft's blockchain partners which includes the likes of start-ups Ethereum and Ripple. .
... The blockchain and cryptocurrency are becoming mainstreamed. Long-term, this is very good news for Factom. My response on the same thread: Jeez Louise...Marc Andreessen was right when he predicted that crptocurrency - "blockchain" - would become mainstreamed like the Internet in the 1990s. There's even the same transformation from a proper noun to a buzzword, just like the answer-gal's use of "Internet" in that 1994 Today show segment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAV2GjkhztgYep: despite the adoption gap, "Blockchain" is becoming a lot like "Internet" a/o 1994!

I hope a web wallet is planned, it makes it so much easier for small players like myself. edit: I just want to make two transactions, send some IPO coins to a paper wallet & send remaining IPO coins to poloniex

You have to do your own due diligence, but FCT appeals to me as it has non anon devs with solid business backgrounds, a large diversified team, executing business deals with govts and organisations around the world, the ability to disrupt existing business models already ongoing in the real world, anchoring into the BTC blockchain providing additional value to it, and plans to anchor/integrate into Ethereum also. I can't speak about RADS as it hasn't checked the boxes I'm looking for, but that said I'm not an expert on it. But here's some FCT links that may assist you in understanding the potential of FCT, and of course the whitepaper would be the place to start. (links in no order) https://github.com/FactomProject/FactomDocs/blob/master/whitepaper.mdhttps://www.factom.com/http://factom.org/https://github.com/FactomProject/https://www.factom.com/howto/There are of course many news articles and youtube videos, and the facebook page has a lot of links to relevant blockchain/FCT links. And yes they close deals around the world. Good luck :-)

Just a little personal update about the wallet (because I was critical about it): Now it's working for me. I tried it on two different Mac's without any problems. I still have problems with the papermill on both Mac's (still showing weird signs and I have no idea why), but no problems with an Windows-Laptop that I use as offline-Computer. I still believe a more easy-to-use-System would be good in general but for me it's enough to be safe now. So, thanks to the team! Regarding the papermill on Windows: First it just opened and closed the terminal. The solution can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/factom/comments/49zf1x/setting_up_factom_wallet_without_koinify/d102oz4
