Until there is commerce, Litecoin will languish.  Once a silk road opens up for Litecoin, the currency will have made it.  Until then?  Litecoin won't be much higher than the current price if not lower by the end of the year.  With what 30,000 new coins each day?  Lol, there isn't enough demand as it stands.  And this is coming from a person that likes litecoin.

But it's nice to dream.

LTC/USD prices by the end of this year would be...the source of much speculation, not unlike the BTC/USD price at years end Smiley

Litecoin.org
btc-e.com

And I'm betting it will double from whatever it is before bitcoin ASIC's hit a month after they actually do come out and are in production killing gpu miners for btc.  I have seen more interest in ltc in the last month then in the last 6 months all sparked by a small price increase (bit for ltc, but still small price as a coin) and ASIC speculation.  Bitcoins seem to be more of a sure thing right now, and I believe people are dumping most of their resources into bitcoin right now taking value/interest away from LTC temporarily.  I'm expecting BTC to hit $20 in 2013, and unless something happens to change opinion, LTC might see $.25 or more next year per.

Yes litecoin needs more commerce, but we won't necessarily need silkroad. (btw I think there is a good chance the original one to use it in time).

Litecoin is trading at roughly the same prices as bitcoin did before it went big, only with 4x as many coins. The recent developments into tip jars already accept litecoin (https://booster.io, https://propster.me).
This is really significant if you consider the short timescales involved since Litecoin started to get some attention.

I'm not sure, I'm mining some as I have pretty powerful CPUs though. Until I get around 1000+ I don't know that I'll do much with them.

as many of us read there about goverment way how to shutdown SR, with destabilising price of BTC... i think not posible to make it unstable for longer time, but, ltc should be nice backup, for sr is better to lay on two diferent currencies than one... btc is very stable, but... nevere say never

It needs to gain mass appeal.  Bitcoin wouldn't be where it is at if it didn't have sr.  I would also say the bitcoin economy would come to a screeching halt should sr be taken down by the feds. Two million dollars a month in BTC is pumped through sr, that's what makes an economy.  Should that stop, BTC will nose dive.

Yes, and this is just speculation.  Nothing more to it than that.  I honestly see it dropping back down to .01 or under if there aren't any major developments in the next few months.  1 million LTC is sitting at btc-e with no one buying.  Period.  Seems everyone is just sitting and hoping.

And yes, people have looked into litecoin these last few months the stats prove that.  But what do the stats also prove? The interest is waning.

http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=litecoin&date=today%2012-m&cmpt=q

http://www.google.com/trends/?q=litecoin&ctab=0&geo=all&date=ytd&sort=0

You want to know what I see when I look at those two charts?  A bubble that is about to burst.  There needs to be a major development or you can consider LTC DOA.

Disclaimer: I'm saying this and am holding 30k LTC.  I do trade for silver or other goods when there is an offer.  I do my part to help.  The LTC economy just isn't moving.  I hope it gets moving.  But I'm not about to pretend that I believe it's just going to "work itself out" like so many here seem to think.
