I'm in no need for a expensive or powerful computer i don't need to use editing software or anything of the case except something like word to write essays and researching on the internet.

Would a chromebook be good? it has good booting time and is secure from viruses I think because you can't install software. I can get one for around £150 at the moment brand new. Would you recommend it?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

It is a good choice if you're okay with only using the Internet and Chrome apps (ie Google docs). They're cheap, lightweight, and great to use on the go.

If you require any specific software for your classes (Photoshop, AutoCAD for example), keep in  mind you won't be able to install them on a Chromebook.

You may need to install some software for university projects, may be for statistics software, or analysis in excel using advance formulae. I don't think a chromebook is a safe investment.

Really depends on your course you are studying. Although, most Uni students can use alternative software which can be accessed online.
