Open source? Grin and BITMAIN - this is a bad joke. Right?
Any way we all know that most of you will go where you think the most profitable place is. But it will turn out that it might be your biggest mistake folks Wink
At the end the community is driven by pure greed with 0% understanding what is going on in technical terms. I am sorry to say that folks, but  with such behavior it will maximize BITMAIN profits. And your loss also Lips sealed

I can't believe that BITMAIN actually pays dogie to represent them. I think BITMAINTECH would be a more profitable company if they paid dogie NOT to post in their threads.

EDIT: I also just attempted to connect to Antpool just for a little while to check it out, and it doesn't even appear to be working (atleast for me?). It recognizes my workers but not any hash rate, which is pretty sketchy. Maybe it's just a bug, wouldn't be the first time BITMAIN rolled out a product/service that had a few kinks  Wink, I'll stick to eligius and let others be the guinea pigs on this one...

Hash rate info is slow to update at the moment (20-25 minutes).

Pool nodes are deployed around the world to improve performance and provide redundancy. Miners are automatically routed their closest location, including:
  • United States
  • Germany
  • Hong Kong
  • Beijing
  • Shenzhen
  • Qingdao
  • Hangzhou and more.
Can I deploy a pool node? What do I need to do it?

When you start to mine in antpool? you should get a good luck if you start to mine before 2014-11-13 02:53:23. 4 blocks were found in 1.5hours  Grin

As to p2p mining, Antpool collects all subscribed miners to its servers, and then contributes to the already exist p2p network (p2pool.info).

If this is a totally separate p2pool like network but miners connect to Bitmain's servers only to mine on it, then they get the worst of all worlds: They get the increased work loss of frequent restarts, they get the high diff shares that will prevent them getting paid consistently unless they have very large hashrates, and there is no actual decentralisation since they'll be mining at a centralised pool created by bitmain that just happens to use the p2pool code for its backend but isn't really p2peer.

If all of the above is true, then bitmain has tried to cash in on the decentralisation concept by paying homage to the idea using p2pool without actually understanding it.

Fail.

As to p2p mining, Antpool collects all subscribed miners to its servers, and then contributes to the already exist p2p network (p2pool.info).
we are trying to reduce the loss of frequent restarts in p2p mode. we hope we can present better result soon.

Wrong. If that were true, it will never work  Cheesy

p2pool.info hasn't worked properly for the last 6 months.......it's the last place to go for info  Roll Eyes

Then please get Bitmain to confirm this here - yourself included. Are you also a R&D engineer? Cos if you are - you should have known about p2pool.info being broken.

Mine at Jonny's Pool

I must admit I'm very confused by this announcement.  The source code in github is not modified at all, it's just a straight copy.  We have newbie accounts posting claiming to be Bitmain representatives and pool engineers, yet they don't seem aware that p2pool.info has been dead in the water for a very long time and that it doesn't actually provide mining services.  I've seen no increase in hash rate on the standard p2pool network which would account for this supposed testing they've been doing over the past month.

So, how about some explanations, Bitmain?  What exactly are you providing in your upcoming p2pool network that is better than what is currently available?  Are you providing a competing product to the existing p2pool or are you planning to work in conjunction with it?  If you are truly offering something new, how can I setup my own node?  Have you solved some of p2pool's shortcomings, like the increased variance with increased hash rate of the pool, or written the software in something a bit more useful like C so it can properly handle threading?

Look, I have purchased your products and still run them, but your track record of late has been less than stellar.  The S3s came in under specced and it wasn't until the S3+ that you even got close to what they originally were supposed to be.  The firmware has been using an ancient version of ckolivas' software until recently.  The S4 launch was pretty much a disaster with PSUs flaming out and broken firmware.  Don't even get PatMan started on the S2 firmware's p2pool compatibility and how long THAT took to appear.

You claim to promote decentralization.  Put your money where your mouth is.  Show us this as-of-yet unseen commitment, because at this point all that I can see are a few massive data farms in China pushing quite a large number of PHs on your own private AntPool.  That sure seems quite contrary to your supposed commitment to decentralization.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

Oh dear. This isn't good:

As to p2p mining, Antpool collects all subscribed miners to its servers, and then contributes to the already exist p2p network (p2pool.info).

Why would you mention a broken/inaccurate website for reference?

And who are you? What's with all the new accounts suddenly popping up claiming to be Bitmain employees?

@ Bitmain: Please verify these users as your employees.

EDIT: Yo jonnyB, you beat me to it...... Cheesy
