Either it goes from here to the top, or we're facing a major crash.
I agree with Enky: http://btctrading.wordpress.com/2012/09/23/short-term-update-mtgox-daily-chart-7/

I don't think its time yet, too soon since the crash from $15. The failure to break $12.7 is reminiscent of the failure to break $5.5 back in mid-march. Still expecting further consolidation, and $10 is still the new $5.

Some more news or product from BFL could be the next trigger. Didn't the rise from $5 start around when their FPGA rigs started shipping?

p.s. another enky reader! I remember him from the forums here early last year..

Interesting. Like he said, lets wait a few days.

That is just what you day traders think. (short term)

That buyer knows this: Bitcoin is awesome and so the value of a bitcoin can only go up. (long term)

I agree but it will still have its ups and downs, I think the price will settle a little around a high 10 USD.

Will we hit a market cap of 10,000,000,000 USD in two years? With 13,125,000 bitcoins, the price would be $761 / BTC  Cheesy

Yeah, no.  I don't think we're likely to see a market cap of $1,000,000,000 in 2 years let alone 10x that.  If bitcoin survives long enough, maybe in a decade.  The market depth is still too weak for us to be through with single digits yet, and I'm guessing we'll be taking another deep dive into single digits during the next year.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

I think there's a good chance 3 months from now the price is lower than it is now.

I think there's a low chance of that being the case. But I guess we'll see.

proudhon is a broken clock. I'm not as confident now as I was at $5, but there are some similarities.

Ideally, we'll see more developments to generate positive sentiment. The two most important are legit services for margin trading and legit ASIC mining hardware.

When MtGox first started dealing with multiple currencies it appeared as if all orders showed up in all currencies with the price adjusted giving Gox a half a percent cut.  So I could place an order trying to sell BTC for $10 each, and it would show up on the Euro book as someone trying to sell BTC for 8 Euros each, or whatever the conversion would be.

I've not looked since, but I imagine it's much the same now.

Right... almost.  The fee is a bit higher, but is on par with normal bank currency conversions.  They add all orders to every book, but add the additional fee if they have to do a conversion once the order is filled.  It adds a lot of liquidity to all currencies, but leaves room for arbitrage profits if you can undercut their fee on your conversion (like if you need to do the conversion anyway).
