Thats no turning point yet. Only a little upwardish triangle inside a larger down trend. No relevant trends broken and no SELLING volume much more prominent then BUYING volume. I expect this to go down further, somewhere just above 10$.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

i guess it depends on what happens today.

if the market is still bullish ( once people stop DUMPING :p ), last night was bottom... at least for a good while

Seems like going below 11 will happen again today for sure. Only the true beliefs of true believers of bitcoins strengths over the long term is bullish for them. Short term things have gone downhill in so many ways.

So buy some bitcoins for speculation or drugs/gambling but that is about it. Investing has resulted in total mayhem for the most part.

It best to look at price without any emotion..

do not be too thrilled about making the right move at the right time. its really not that hard... if you sold after seeing a 10% drop... your doing it wrong  Kiss

11$ might just break. but so what we make a double bottom at 10.50?

sure why not, i haven't bought back yet anyway  Cheesy

buying at a low price and cherry picking the time frame is awesome!
how about justifying buying right now at 11?
do you really expect the price to be 20 this spring?
more then likely it will be dead money for the next 6 months if you are lucky.

Not to state the obvious, but mtgox appears to be as manipulated a market as the NYSE is. I suspect a few people with a majority of the cash on the exchange are playing with it like their private toy.

I'd like to see other price discovery tools being used by the community but I hold out little hope of that happening.

6k buy  Grin

How do you figure I cherry picked a time frame?  The article listed 3 of the most common time frames...

Bitcoin Ends Month Up 22%, Quarter Up 85%, YTD 2012 Now Up 162%

I think you would have to cherry pick time frames in order to see a downtrend.

Definition of manipulation and evidence of such please?

Just because some people can trade with more $$$ than you doesn't make it manipulation.

Evidence is human nature combined with 5000 years of manipulated economic history. Just because a new money tech comes along doesn't change human nature.

This isn't an issue of envy. I don't use any of the exchanges because none of them are trustworthy.

The valuation is not @ $4 a BTC just yet. (May never get to that again. Who knows)

However here is a spreadsheet with my hobbyist results for the week of October 6th to 8th. (Having to work a long weekend is not without its opportunities)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmeuPljmUNHCdGdJTXhOdVlHTmVEVGxrM3J5bkN3UVE

Take a small amount of BTC, (just over 107BTC) and make just over 8% return in BTC in 3 days is nothing to scoff at.

EDIT: Made an error in calculating Total BTC Averaged Sell Transaction Cost. Should be 0.56BTC instead of 1.8BTC. So the return on 106.32BTC is 116.21BTC. Thats an increase of 9.89BTC or 9.3%

manipulation...

you could say what i do; try to convince everyone on the forum that price is either going up or down is also "manipulation"
I'd say bitcoin is less manipulated then people think... Who is the Bear and Bull buying and selling like mad Huh ...Its a fuck load of random people man, this is the beauty of bitcoin.. is their another 24/7 decentralized global market that is so heavily traded off the exchanges?

Mtgox is quite obviously manipulated. Bitcoin the protocol isn't manipulated, but its price is via mtgox.

mtgox != Bitcoin.
