Only Gox knows how much is in BTC and when an order is placed to sell. What you can monitor is the inflow of transactions to Gox through blockchain info. There is a "Bitcoin transaction map" with sound alarm that gives an idea if large amounts are transfeered to them, which can be a warning of a large sell something like 45 minutes in advance, (they need 6 confirmations before their money are available on their account).

There are more coins for sale on Gox than you imagine. The fact that they are not in the order book does not mean anything!

Interesting... Link?
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Are we "low" on coins?

nah here you get the 30 day bars and the volume

Here's the link: http://blockchain.info/new-transactions

Every deposit to Gox has an unique address, so what you are monitoring is the recieving ip;

72.52.5.67. Mtgox.com resides at Prolexic Technologies in Hollywood, FL, United States. So if you monitor the flags on the map on this location, you have a pretty good idea. You check the listing further down the page to see the amount deposited.

Someone should make a page with some graphs with deposits and withdraws from Gox over time, with an inbuilt alarm to wake you up when something happens!!!

I think you have overlooked something. There is no receiving IP. The IP's are just the first node that gets it. Then added to the block chain. There is no way to monitor transfers to mtgox without knowing their clients deposit addresses.

Your logic may be valid for outgoing transactions but that info is useless. Would just show how much was transferred out of mtgox.

"receiving ip"? lol?
Every single node receives the transaction. That's the idea behind p2p!
I see no possibility to determine if a transaction goes to mtgox or not. Short from having direct access to gox' database..

And for sure all that stuff would be a pretty nifty warning tool.
Until people send a gazillion coins to mtgox, people freak out and crash the price, and the original guy buys for a lower price.. heh

When there are few transactions two flags pings at once, so you have a sense of who is paying whom and if one of the flags is in Hollywood, Florida It quite obvious. Youre right about the first node picking it up is the one visible, the I don't know how blockchain is doing it, they maybe have an address tagging database?

I have seen transactions being similar to the decimal with offers on Gox.

the grind must be unbearable.

and the bubble bullshit.

so EM.  i'm curious.  now that we're at 22 and change, at what price would you be willing to buy and become a bull?  i ask b/c you were a bear down at 2 as well.

there must be some nagging belief you have deep down as the reason you hang around here.

I don't know. I mean the main reason for my bearishness were the public fuckups in the past. (mybitcoin, bitcoinica, pirate, other scams and smaller "hacks" and the like)
In the past few months since the pirate drama the situation has very much improved and so has my reception of bitcoin.

and obviously you know those had nothing to do with the protocol of course.

at least its good to know that your mind is opening a bit.
Of course, the problem I had is that it looked like as if would escalate too much.
Since historically there are cases where the stupidity of the masses ruined or at least prolonged the development of superior technology.

A open mind is a good thing but if you open your mind too much your brain falls out...

The masses are gonna be stupid and stay stupid, like how they have been for thousand of years. So most likely, you have to adapt  you superior technology to the stupidity of the masses, especially when it's something like a currency, which would not have a future if it could not survive the stupidity of the masses.
