Just got off the phone with the Coinlab CEO and he promised me that they and their investors are backing every Bitcoin and $$ balance any trader holds on GOX and they will be offering a buyback at $147 / Bitcoin to mend the havoc they have made on the market by having a stray dog running around in the server room earlier this morning.

Awesome news!
is this not a joke???

lol I assume so

It's already at $100 on BTC-E

BTC-E is a joke.  They're constantly 10 to 15 behind every other exchange on good days.

Whatever man, they have a super 1337 chat full of legit traders.

So who else made some money on the dip?   Grin
I made a bit, but not nearly as much as I could have if I hadn't chickened out and rebought some coins only slightly below what I had sold them for.
The peak went a lot higher than I had thought, feared the dip might not go quite as low because everybody would be waiting to buy on the dip after seeing the same pattern repeat again and again.

Welcome back. I think the dip would have been less steep if not for Gox.

Whatever. And no you haven’t been in bitcoin since 2010. Plus if you really feel the way you do. Then sell. Have conviction. If not keep pounding sand.

Yeah, it was a joke. The bad news is that the press noticed the havoc. There is a story from CNN on r/Bitcoin. This is going to take more than a few days to repair public perception. MtGox have to take full blame and publicly apologize not to stain Bitcoin or they'll loose their business and everybody else's.!

This is exactly what i have been screaming for years!! The 2011 crash was single handedly MtGOx's FAULT. Mark Karpeles is retarded. Have anyone here had a conversation with the dork? He is so fucking stupid, and these are the results of his "work".

GOX SUX COX!

This is proof that bitcoin has become to centralized. It's about time we do something about it.

Well, I'm doin' my part as I never trade on Gox.  Can't really force everyone else to move though.

Absolutely unacceptable. People need to stop trading everything on GOX. No question. You can trade a bit but use the other exchanges for god sakes!

The good news I suppose is cheaper coins and oh no we're back to yesterday's prices.

But really.  The one night I choose to a timelapse of charts and Gox breaks.  What garbage.  I like their security but again, why isn't this fixed yet?  If you can't fix it, hire someone who knows how to.

Oh Loaded, who art up in Mt. Gox, hallowed be thy name!  Thy dollars rain, thy will be done, on BTCUSD.  Give us this day our daily 10% 30%, and forgive the bears, as we have bought their bitcoins.  And lead us into quadruple digits

No, but they should realize how dangerous it is to give someone like Mark this type of responsibility when he clearly has showed us that he isn't competent enough.

I'm glad Gox is having issues! Maybe people will start going elsewhere en masse!

I'd like for a competitive exchange market with proportional volume, that would be great.

Andddd btw... great time to buy BTC right now IMO.  Grin

Exactly, these fools have left an entire market, full of people who are worried about their money, CLUELESS for 8 hours. Disgusting communication and customer service. It's like their are scared telling the truth about the DDOS attack will scare people or something. OR perhaps they don't even give a shit about talking to their customers to reassure them and it never even crossed their minds.

Could we crowdfund an exchange?
A crowdfunded, nonprofit Bitcoin exchange. Ultra low fees. Or something.
