Corrupted bitlocker partition. Most data is intact, but the drive master key couldn't be recovered.. I've had it sent to multiple data recovery companies

I do think you have the possibility to brute force this with the help of the bitcoin community (think of all the gpu power out there)! 10% finders fee of the correct key?

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

256 bit AES key, might as well try to brute force the top few here, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92423.0 , it'll be more profitable.

I'm not gonna worry too much about it.. mined way more than 5000btc in my time, stopped and forgot about it, and then came back when it was around $5. Biggest regret is cashing out another >5k too low.

If the majority of the bits are recovered it might be.
The bitcoin network could theoretically brute force 22 bit out of a 256bit key in 10 minutes considering current hashrates.

I'll sell it for 1BTC to cover shipping and having to dig for it, if I can even find it anymore...

When we broke through the last ath at 31 I told my friends that bitcoin was entering into uncharted waters, but I still felt that the situation was well controlled, until today. I'm past euphoria, I'm in a state of pure astonishment; a state through which I will continue to hold my stash barring a flaw in the bitcoin protocol or some other extraordinary event.

I don't know how anyone can feel secure knowing someone with a marginal amount of wealth could play with this market like a ragdoll.

Pfft, security is me dragging my arse out of bed everyday at single digit hours and commuting to work.

This is only the beginning.

Not sure if serious, but the fact is, if Bitcoin is on its way to achieving its full potential, then this is roughly the arc it would have to follow. It's shocking to us, because we've been around for a while, but this is not even BIG money coming in... just low to medium money at the moment.

The fun will really begin when the big guns make their appearance.
