Bitcoin: One year on from peak price, what does the future hold?

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/11/13/tech/bitcoin-peak-price-future/

Opinions of various people (including Mark Williams  Grin) given.
"Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks like Napster, but pure P2P networks like Gnutella and Tor seem to be holding their own." -- Satoshi

It will certainly be exciting to see the next 12 months!  Woohoo!

Winklevoss twins ETF should go live.

I suspect more ATMs will be released.

More merchants will start accepting.

Perhaps we'll get more regulatory guidance?

I agree with this fully. I saw many people last year proclaiming 2014 to be the year of bitcoin aka we're going to be rich but obviouslly that never happened. Personally I'm not bothered as I can see the potential in btc so whether it takes, one, two, three or several years I'll still be here. I think those who persevere and get behind the technology as opposed to just getting out because they didn't get rich instantaneously will be rewarded eventually. If not at least we can say we tried.

2015 is going to be the year of Bitcoin. Or maybe 2016. or '17  Grin. I think people should worry less abotu the curent price and more on adoption as that is the thing that will ultimately fuel a price hike.

2014 was an amazing year for BTC but not for the "get rich quick trolls"  Cheesy
compared to december 2013 it is very quiet here in the forum. i like that. most new members dont understand BTC and dont want to take time for that . thats good for the tech-guys that stay and know what they are doing and investing.

I think so too, and I think it's only going to get better and better next and over the following few years in my opinion. People are only dissapointed because the price hasn't reflected bitcoins growth or adoption but they should just give it time but obviously most of these "get rich quick trolls"  wont have the patience.

You both hit the nail on the head.  The FUD comes from people who don't know the uses of the technology.

The ETFs (W twins, Second Market, maybe others?), lots of startup funding in 2013-2014, many, many additional uses, some cool technology (sidechains for one) and the next halving will be price drivers over the next 18 months.  Each one individually could have a huge impact on the price and usage.

No one knows for sure, but there are a lot of positives out there.

I was merely a lurker in late Nov but it did seem very hectic around that time and I guess it was due to the excitement of the price rise and the influx of those newbs looking to get rich quick. Most have probably just left or jumped ship to the alt coin section trying to get rich there now.

The alt coin section consists almost entirely of those kids trying make a bit of money of pump and dumps. 99% of alts are trash and have absolutely no purpose other than to suck newbs in then the coin gets pumped and dumped and only the devs who premined the shit out of it win. Rinse and repeat.

when bitcoin fails, all other alts will fail too. no alt will win over bitcoin. (Litecoin can be happy to be number 2 for such a long time  Wink )

so future looks great but we should not forget that crypto is high risk  Smiley -  but its fun too.
