even if the deposit is to a personal account and that owner doesnt sell?

Exchange users don't own the coins they deposit. Deposits go to one big pot (shared wallet) and all internal exchange buys/sells/transfers are just database transactions. So after coins have visited an exchange it's impossible to tell who they belong to. A deposit to an exchange address should be assumed to be a dead end in any blockchain research. Likely those coins were sold, but could also be withdrawn and you wouldn't know it because the withdrawal would come from a completely different address. Exchanges are reasonably good coin mixers.

This is going to change and soon. I know that NASDAQs exchange will have individual wallets for every account. I predict that the Authorities, partly because of douchebags, will demand it from all exchanges if they want to do business with Americans.

I am a bit unsure of exactly how exchanges, Cryptsy in particular does this. I know for sure that they generate a real unique Blockchain address for each account's deposits for each coin, so you can see deposits to an account. However, you can generate new addresses at will, so an account may have many deposit addresses associated with it. I *think* any deposit will remain in the unique address until the account holder opens up the exchange for that particular coin, perhaps even requiring placing an order, before the coins are moved into the pooled coins in the main Cryptsy account, meaning that whoever deposited that 1,000 XPY has not tried to move them yet. I could of course be wrong about this, if someone has some XPY to deposit and check this we would know for sure.

I'm withdrawing one xpy to PNXPSwfJVZD8itRp5Q3pQuDrnQsTZdVw7F now, will transfer back soon as it comes in and report.

Edit: still waiting for blockchain to sync.

No, movements inside the exchange have nothing to do with the account holder. You deposit the coins, you get an entry in the database for that, exchange then sweeps those coins into a cold wallet or sends to someone else who may have requested a withdrawal.

The actual algorithm how they they determine what stays online and what goes to the cold wallet might differ from one exchange to another, so that might explain why some deposits stay in the address longer than others.

One thing I'm not sure is how the blockchain explorer determines which addresses belong to exchanges. You might want to try to find that out because that affects the accuracy of what you're doing.

To answer my own question - the explorer is not doing this well. One of my recent deposit addresses is NOT labeled as "Cryptsy", but when I click on the "Guesstimated wallet" it does show as belonging to Cryptsy along with a ton of other addresses:

I thought that exchanges had a single , or maybe few, wallets for each coin, and then deposit addresses are generated from that wallet. Here is a(the?) Paycoin Cryptsy wallet:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xpy/wallet.dws?29868.htm

Here is the address where the "stolen" 1,000 XPY is still sitting. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xpy/address.dws?78515.htm it is #20 in the address list for that Cryptsy wallet.

It says there are ~13,000 addresses for this wallet, with only 32 currently having >0 XPY in them. Like I said , I *think* a new address is generated for the main Cryptsy wallet for each account, and more if that account user requests new ones. How the deposits are moved to the main (pooled) addresses is unclear to me.

All,

As I have a few log files of my own, I am also in search of any files that may have been gleaned from the GAWMiners Groups, Leaked Emails (with intact headers or anything else you feel may be useful) - please feel free to PM me directly about this.  (I missed the groups leak and I cant be bothered to trawl back 1,400 pages).

The reason I am asking for these files, is that I have received a file transfer request for my logs, from the Securities and Exchange Comission, and would like to put together as much as possible so that they have a clear understanding of exactly what GAW Miners and Josh Garza have been upto.

Thanks in advance

Animo

I think those two are the same:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xpy/wallet.dws?29868.htm (your link)
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xpy/wallet.dws?163252.htm (my link)

Not sure why they have two different IDs on that site.

And yes, you can generate any number of addresses for deposits (at least on Cryptsy).

I can't tell if you're really a delusional paycoiner, or just a convincing troll.

Either way, the only thing here that's pure shit are your posts.

As insaneminer from GH put nicely:

And why is it pure shit? gonna go cry to your moderated forums that the big mean people told you that you are a retard and can't provide any proof to say that what they are telling you is pure shit and you are part of a cult? I guess it's much better to be spoon-fed shit directly from someones ass than to do your own research.
