Wow, what an end. And 21 entire months. I can't even imagine a month cooped up at home, and he's got to do it in prison. Hopefully, without all the luxuries of internet and social media, so he can purge himself from all that.

Feel sorry for all those affected. If this doesn't teach anyone about cloud mining and how it's just not possible, then I don't know how else. Just surprised this isn't getting more coverage in crypto circles. Heard about GAW and Paycoin so much.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

So he got 21 months?

I thought he would get one year and one day.

I was hoping for 10 years... still 21 months is better than most crypto crooks get, i.e. 0.

he begged his mom for cash she said no... a little while later carlos called him to say his mother overdosed on medication.

Keep in mind this is Homero's version that he concocted with the help of his lawyers to elicit empathy. He's a sociopathic liar so quite likely there is more to this story.

I was also worried he was going to walk. On reflection now, its definitely not the most comfortable sentence because it includes additional restrictions:

https://www.justice.gov/usao-ct/pr/former-virtual-currency-ceo-involved-9-million-fraud-scheme-sentenced-prison

Quote
John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that HOMERO JOSHUA GARZA, 33, of Texas, formerly of Somers, Connecticut, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford to 21 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, the first six months of which GARZA must spend in home confinement, for his role in his companies’ purported generation and sale of virtual currency.

3 years of supervised release? Is that probation?  Just checking...

https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/what-federal-supervised-release.html

He's going to have someone breathing down his neck for the following 3 years.  A critical period when his kids are growing up. Cannot shit on the pot without permission Cheesy for 3 long years.  Of course 4 hard years in the big house would have been better, but this couple with his taste of that is also not so great. I wonder if he conned this 3.5 month delay to Jan 2019 to "set up his company" is because his latest creature is due? Can it be determined when she expects to spawn the latest creature? Otherwise he'll miss the birth of whatever it is which should weigh on him as well. Reality is if you read his sob story the same old deviant Homero is alive and well in their. EXACT same writings as in his emails. His anticipation that the judge new of the excess of the jet rental, he addresses that, or perhaps it was in a victim statement? he covers everything that he thinks people are thinking about him...same mickey mouse 10 cent con artistry. Best left to last, the success of his company LOL. Perfect ploy because if it fails he can blame it on trolls if it succeeds he managed to inject some of his stole bitcoin and can explain sudden riches that way.

The real question remains. Is he going to pay back the 9 million or is he going to try to pay it back. What's the point of this plea if he doesn't even have it?  The wording in the original makes it sound like he has it and will pay it back, not that he will attempt to. Very very unclear about this.

We need to keep tabs on him keep him in check and with someone luck he'll fuck up his supervised release.

Should have left the fucker in the Uncle Stu suit let me him waste more resources and keep him even more stressed out:

21 months @ 85%.  he will serve 17.85 months.  i can do that time sitting on the toilet.  this is not justice at all; he played the system and won.  i would be shocked it he does not have a usb drive out there with bitcoins stashed on it.   they gave him 4 years less than the prosecutor recommended.  what a waste of taxpayer dollars; this pitiful sentence is a crime in itself!

I agree, somethings not right. A reporter needs to probe this. Unless there is the pending criminal case or civil case or investigation still on going?

But look at this loser, miserable 36,000 dollar heist, lame phishing attack....36 months in jail. Same court even Homero's original Judge, less time for 9 MILLION dollars?

https://www.justice.gov/usao-ct/pr/nigerian-national-sentenced-32-months-prison-phishing-scheme-victimized-school-employees

I wonder if MIZ Pearce knows the judge and maneuvered that long delay to get into his calendar.

We'll need the transcripts to this proceeding once they come out. Seemed to take quite a while for the determination to be made while it is painfully obvious it was predetermined. What really does stand out is the bible bullshit in nearly all of Homero's reference letters. Nauseatingly so. Why? Quick checks on the Judge don't reveal (probably by design), equal religious fanaticism.  But I'll put money down Marjorie knows that the Judge does spend many hours in the pew!

News outlets are slowly picking it up. No wonder they are home schooling the kids. Cry  Seriously, what kind of business and where is it located that anyone would dream of doing business with him? It is noted he said it was something his wife had wanted to do forever, but at the same time is expected to generate 9 million dollars  from which he will pay everyone back  Roll Eyes Surely not a sandwich shop? Dildo Testing Services? Medical Marijuana stolen from Roger the Shrubber?   Seems they have sealed this vital information, no doubt from the trolls... we must found out what it is.

SHOUT OUT TO CARLOS ! best one yet!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

No other way anyone sane would do business with him now.  Where's that young pastor that got roped in for half a mil, wow completely forgotten his name. Even had live video shows. Matt something? The more heinous the better the bigger the tears for forgiveness the more the money rolls in  Cheesy Cheesy  Didn't they already create some scam charity or church like setup early on? His whole religious affiliation thing is a sham.  As I recall, he and his wife were listed on their church's website as giving some talk about how to have a successful marriage or some shit in the very midst of his scamming.  He's been claiming to be a jebus freak all along while simultaneously lying and scamming people and cheating on his wife.

Anyway, glad to see the shitbag got actual prison time.  The very least he deserves.  Too bad carlos the drunkard isn't getting some too.

Matt something?

You mean Matlack the chief strategist of ionomy? https://ionomy.com/

That shitshow is supremely pathetic. They have like 20 users and they're still dreaming of striking gold in the multi-billion dollar mobile gaming market. Garza's aversion to honest work is highly infectious.

On the other hand, it's quite likely that they recouped their Paycoin losses in dollar value during last year's shitcoin boom by offloading ION bags onto some random suckers.

Wow, I'm really learning more and more about this guy, it's really amazing if you come to think of it, all the personalities caught up with crypto and Bitcoin. Makes you wonder, with all the Garzas and the Mcafees, could one day we also be hearing of big news headlines happening to some of the top dogs in crypto now?

The worse thing to me is that all of these guys aren't even really Bitcoin at heart. And yet they made all the money. I mean come on, less than 2 years, probably in white collar prison, and when he comes out, he'll get to enjoy all the money stashed away. Probably write a book to tell his version of things and get a whole new round of sympathizers.

Let's hope so. There are sooo many scammers still out there, giving Bitcoin a bad name. In a way, these people are all needed. I guess crypto always needed to grow up and mature, and thanks to all these guys, they gave it prominence.
