Hobby miner here, a good way to keep your expensive gaming hardware from getting lazy.  I have been mining a year, and have hit the  break even point, all the money i dumped into hardware is back.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!
