Guide to mining Riecoin via Virtual Machines on Google:
First you need to join a mining pool. For these instructions I'm using
http://ypool.net.
1. Go to
http://ypool.net2. Create and account.
3. At the top click Current Coin Mode and choose Riecoin.
4. On the left hand side click Workers , then Workers again.
5. Take note of your username and password, you will need these credentials later.
Now you need to sign up for a free trial of google cloud. Don't worry, your CC or Debit card WILL NOT BE CHARGED. There is no need to cancel before the trial is over.
1. Go to
https://cloud.google.com/2. Sign up for a free 30 day trial. (CC or Debit card required)
3. Create a new project.
4. Make sure you are under My Project and then Overview.
5. Click Create Instance.
6. Under Firewall make sure Allow HTTP and HTTPS is checked.
7. Under Machine Type select n1-highcpu-2. Under Zone choose either Asia/Europe/US whichever you're closest to. Under Image make sure backports-debian is selected.
8. Leave everything else the same and click Create.
9. On the left hand side make sure you are under Compute > Compute Engine > VM Instances.
10. On the right hand side under connect click the three dots beside SSH and choose Open In Browser Window.
11. Once connected type: wget
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dga/crypto/ric/xptminer-sse4-b1612. Now type: chmod a+x xptminer-sse4-b16
13. Now type: ./xptminer-sse4-b16 -o
http://ypool.net -u <username> -p <password>
14. In the step above type the username and password you chose at ypool instead of <username> and <password>. DO NOT INCLUDE THE <> symbols!
14. Done! Enjoy mining Riecoin!
You can repeat this process with multiple VM instances. Just be sure to create a new worker on ypool.net for each VM instance.
