This is weird.  I've tried my conf file with and without the 'port=48334' line.  When i remove the port=48334 entry, the wallet defaults to port 46334 - which seems to be what the nodes are working on - or at least what my wallet thinks they are.  Here's my debug file for the connection attempts with and without the port=48334 entry:
