I think the security issue will be the major problem in trying to use an XBox or a wii for mining, and why would you want to destroy it for mining  . The modifications, will probably destroy its use as a gaming console. |

Not with consoles. Not with CPU. Not with GPU. Only ASIC's are worth it and there will be a time when they wont be either.
Dont use your xbox man, mining is an asic based game, you just have to figure out the best way to play It. Riddle: if I mine 2.0btc in 30 days with only 1x 1500watt miner, how am I doing it? |

And on wii you could swing the console up and down to mine bitcoins!
You never know, Microsoft recently officially accepted Bitcoin as a method of payment, maybe next they will incorporate miners in xbox'ses.

Now that Microsoft accepted BTC as a payment method, it might also lead to some developments on the console side. I'd like to see, a Xbox mining coins, whilst it's idle and then depositing this, as credit, back in to the internet, for the user to benefit from, when he/she plays.  |

Given this would cost the user substantially more in electricity than they'd see in bitcoin, I doubt they'd consider it much of a "benefit". xbox uses ATI GPU, so in principle it should be able to mine GPU only coins profitably. How easy it is in practice or is it even worth burning up the box for remains to be seen, xbox suffers from poor ventilation issues.

pool or solo? Solo with 3x knc titan. 1000mhs scrypt. Makes about 0.5 btc per day, and I quit my job. Wow nice! I don't know to much about mining stuff.. can you tell how much did you spend for that miners? |

Consoles generally have weaker GPUs compared to normal desktop computers. Yes, you can mine using it but buying an ASIC would be more practical than shortening the lifespan of your console with little to no returns after deducting electrical fees.
