My wife... is not a fan. Suffice to say debating on bitcoin's value as an investment has not gone over well with her. She's convinced the whole thing is a scam. I think the fact that no one knows who created bitcoin rubs her the wrong way, as well as bitcoins legal gray area...

Anyway, she told me not to buy bitcoins, but I dun did it anyway  Tongue

Months elapse, and long ago bitcoin became a subject I did not bring up around her.

Recently she was bored and googled me. She found one of my forum posts talking about how I bought bitcoins.

oops.

My girlfriend knows about my reputation as a troll on the forums (that I spent a great majority of my past here fighting and arguing with people), that there is a stalker on Something Awful (the buttcoin.org guy) who wants to have sex with me, and that I am the owner of several bitcoin companies. She knows how much money I make from it all and she knows that I produce a magazine. I gave her the magazine for the first time last night.

I didn't get any sleep.

'Nuff said.

She was away on a 4 month work contract when I got started and thought it was adorable.
Then she moved back and wasn't too thrilled with the "heat chamber".
Now she's jealous of all my bitcoins.

I don't have a significant other either,thank god.They can certainly get annoying.
No significant other=absolute liberty for me Smiley
So no one cares about my love of bitcoin (woo hoo,no one to tell me how to live my life.)
Also agree with mufa23 Smiley

The evening usually goes something like this:

"God, why is it so hot in your room?"

*blab blab blab*

"Bit-what?  You mean it's imaginary?"

*blab blab blab*

"You're such a dork*

*shows her gold and silver purchased with BTC*

*her jaw drops...and stays that way for the next 10-15 minutes*

She deals with it. As long as the noise and heat are not in her areas of the apartment, I'm good. She knows its legit and makes us some nice coin.

My wife thought it was just another one of my libertarian/ anti-establishment/ End the Fed- goof ball ideas...until the orders rolled in... and the kids got all into the concept by investing, trading, and earning their own btc.  Now she thinks its pretty neat and is in to it also.  She's the one that painted the bitcoin symbol on our bee hive.

She does think I'm a bit weird for checking exchange rates at 4:00am. Roll Eyes

After telling her about this thread she said

"If you want to play your real life "Oregon Trail" video game, just make sure you pay off the house.  Just like the miners in the California Gold Rush, bitcoin miners need to eat too."

I'm in the middle of a split, so I guess it isn't the best question for me, but she hated it.  It was something she didn't understand, and still doesn't.  Although I paid off our bills more than a few times with bitcoin funds, she still doesn't have faith in me investing into hardware.

It would certainly be interesting to see how a court rules in the distribution of assets such as Bitcoin... It would be very easy to send coins to another wallet and slowly re-introduce the gains back into your lifestyle.

Bitcoins could be the perfect safe-haven for someone going through a divorce, looking to stash away some funds.
