$200/month seems low to me. Are you using a switching pool (multipool/hascows/middlecoin)? They've been running around twice the output value of just mining LTC recently. The latter two pay out in BTC so you don't need to worry about a bunch of altcoin dust.

We are running our own P2pool LTC node.  The $200 figure factored in electricity.  Probably seems low because of how much less efficient GPUs are.  Wink

It seemed low because the autoswitching pools are paying out a lot more value. Please try that for a few days at least.  I know how to calculate electricity usage. Wink

Why not purchase scrypt hardware along side of BTC???  My 360GH of ASIC is getting close to useless... mean while my 75MH of GPU is killing it.

Did you mean 75 KH/s, cause I'd be interested in hearing more about your setup if it wasn't a typo!

No I meant 75MH all gpu....will be 85 MH as soon as my packages arrive.  I am lucky to have free power for my rigs though.  Even with power costs ROI is 2-3 months.  ASIC for Scrypt is is not for a long long time.

Bet my GPU farm is viable 10x longer than any up coming BTC ASIC gear...also the resale rocks.  I could host GPU's for Nasty Mining...if you were interested.

I check every single morning to see if scrypt ASICs are available for order yet. We are scrypt mining away with 1.6MH/s now, but I can't power and cool 75MH/s worth of GPUs. It isn't realistic.

Got this newsletter this morning, proceed with caution: https://alpha-t.net/news/development-update-23122013/

Do you have any reason to believe the company is not legitimate?  I've been following them for months now, and have found no red flags.

Not exactly "not legitimate" but the red flag for me would be that they don't even suggest a ship date. They say they will be collecting the other 70% of payment 8-10 weeks before shipment which tells me that shipment will be quite a bit longer than that (otherwise just collect the money now). That seems like a minimum of 4-6 months, best case with no further delays.

Given the current high profitability of mining with GPUs and the fact that they are still available (somewhat hard to find, but available) for immediate purchase I would expect scrypt difficulties to continue to rise at a high rate for the foreseeable future (absent a price crash). I don't really have a 4-6 month forecast though.

Besides gut feeling? No hard facts, no. Just very skeptical. Maybe someone who lives near them can go and check out their local office to get a better idea?

I may be a bit behind here...  But I did stumble across this gem on the BFL forums last night.  If this does indeed turn out to be the case, 10 of our 11 next-gen miners will have liquid cooling!

Quote from: BFL
the plan is for everyone that has a current pre-order, you will be upgraded to the water cooled version of the Monarch for free to compensate for the slight delay.

You are quite the pessimist.  While I admit I haven't read much into it, CoinTerra's design has me assuming that the liquid cooled system will be completely internal and wouldn't require the purchase of additional pumps/radiators/hoses, etc...  If they do indeed require additional equipment, I have quite a bit of experience assembling and running liquid cooled GPUs.  We also won't have an issue purchasing any required equipment if it does come to that, which I believe it will not.

EDIT: No.  Wink

nastyfans web interface updated. On home page you see donations held by nastyfans for online and minted seats. I will improve it later to show individual minted seats.

I talk with OgNasty about minted seat payout threshold. Together we decide that a fixed threshold of 0.001 BTC will allow frequent payouts and avoid dust.

If I have gifted minted seats, what is the procedure for the recipient to register on the nastyfans site and transfer the seats to that new account?

The recipient creates a new account. Do not worry about account expire after 24 hours.

Send me PM with:
  • your nastyfans username
  • the public key of minted seat to transfer (the first 8 characters are enough: 1NastyXX)
  • the nastyfans username of recipient

I will manually change ownership and old owner receives notification of transfer.

Note that nastyfans tracking ownership of minted seats only matters for voting. Donations to minted seats do not care about owner.

Also it is OK if minted seat owner does not want a nastyfans account. In this case just PM me that you do not have the minted seat anymore. If the new recipient does not want a nastyfans account maybe you keep the vote for yourself and do not PM me at all.
