Why you need this 0.15wt SSD, when you can get cheap flash stick, which wattage is even lower? Some of us don't want to use a USB stick as our OS drive on our everyday computer  |

Nice. I wonder how the Samsung's compare to Intel SSD's for reliability. I paid more than that for an 80GB Intel SSD not too long ago. |

I'd say their relatively the same. Most Sata III SSD's are a few % away from eachother. Reliability on the otherhand..

I bought an OCZ Agility III. Failed within 10 minutes (doing everything right, firmware up to date). Replaced it with a Sandisk Extreme. Been rock solid since!

My rule of thumb for OCZ and other SandForce based drives: If it doesn't fail within the first month of operation, it is pretty much guaranteed to last for a long while. I have had astounding failure rates, but the ones that don't fail are awesomely fast. SandForce controllers are a whole new level of absolute shit QA testing, usually a bad drive will fail during OS install or shortly thereafter.

pretty much. have personal experience with a mushkin chronos deluxe 256gb (tier 1 sandforce based). Had random lockups/dropouts of the SSD about 3-5 times per week and only completely powering off the SSD and repowering it would cause it to re-appear. I RMA'd it for an identical model and has been rock solid for a month, no problems at all. |
