Every time I open Bitcoin-qt it crashes. I get the "bitcoin-qt.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

the error signature is

AppName: bitcoin-qt.exe    AppVer: 0.0.0.0    ModName: msvcrt.dll
ModVer: 7.0.2600.5512    Offset: 00036fa3

I don't know if that helps anyone but I can not figure out why it is crashing.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
