Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Very cool.  And the device their selling doesn't look half bad.

Their webpage, on the other hand, could use some work.  Selling a device that is so technical and having such a poor website doesn't exactly inspire confidence for the consumer.

Yeah, it looks great.  I've been meaning to build one of these or buy one for a long time.  Got screwed over in an accident because I was 18.

I may use raspberry pi and connect two cameras to it with a large sd card and wire it to my +12v.  Somehow wire it to my fuse box to get a 'turn on record' feature.  Would be a neat project.

I feel ya there.  It was heavily snowing out, slush everywhere.  Idiot decides to cut me off.  People in front of him slam on their brakes.  He goes into them, I go into him.  If I had that,  I would have sued him for fraud.

Warning: The viewing software for this device runs on Microsoft Windows only. Perhaps the file formats used are readable on other operating systems, but the formats don't seem to be documented in the specifications.

I should have.  The guy was 70-ish. So the cop automagically sided with him vs. the 18 year old.  The cop never asked me for my side of the story.

But now that's it's happened, I know what to look out for and how to handle it appropriately next time around.

Nifty! I have to say, I would choose Bitcoin over Paypal/CC for convenience any day.

Good idea, but the Pi doesn't have nearly enough power. I was disappointed at how frustratingly slow the Pi was for any graphics-related operations (including running a simple GUI/X-server). Maybe if you love reading datasheets you can figure out how to leverage the built-in graphics accelerators (there aren't many), but even then it would be a major stretch. Plus, the I/O speed to the SD card is rather limited.

Cool, but $300?  I'll pass.  Just get a $35 808 #16 cam instead.

The only reason to limit the block size is to subsidize non-Bitcoin currencies

If only those had a remote turn on/record feature, they'd be perfect Tongue

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=20603738&postcount=2095

But doesn't look easy.  The poster should setup shop.  I'd pay double to have it automatically turn on/record with power.  I've found a few dash cams on Amazon for $60 that probably use the same parts, but are too large & obvious because they have IR lights & LCDs.  Just asking to have your car broken into.  No one would think twice about a tiny key chain remote on my dash.

A rear-ender is ALWAYS the fault of the person who did the rear-ending, no matter your age or ethnicity.  I've never heard a cop side with someone who did the rear-ending.

WRONG!  There were multiple rear ends Tongue

4 cars rear ended.

I'm car 4.

car 3 hit car 2 into car 1. I hit car 3.

Car 3 caused the accident, but I was blamed because I was the most back.

Always even when the person being hit isn't established in the lane?

You are in the right lane, someone is in the left lane.  They swerve into you lane with about 6" of space between bumpers and immediately slam on the breaks.  Despite being hit from behind most cops (at least in VA) would say the front vehicle wasn't established in the lane.

Remember everyone!, Anytime you goto buy something online, First ask if they take bitcoins! (expect a no) The more times they get asked they'll surely lookinto accepting it one day!

Just imagine a future filled with GREAT, POWERFUL games. If "intense graphic" games took Bitcoins as the ingame currency, Companies running those games would rake in tens of thousands, Just think of all the people who go "ugggh how can i get some internet money so i can get XYZ digital ingame realmoney item"
Like DLC's!

Amd could really, really flourish if all thier games took bitcoin as a payment method in and outside the game.
Nvidia would basically fallapart from everyone going
"Hey nvidia, Why cant i "mine" "bitcoins" (effectivley) for all these videogames"
Why would they fallapart? That shader clock takes up Alot of PCBoardroom.
