I'm selling the bitcrate.net domain and the source code for the site.

The site is coded in PHP w/ MySQL. I'll include a database backup of the existing site if you wish so.

The bidding starts at 4 BTC.

The auction ends at June 26th 2012.
Post in this thread or PM me if you have any questions regarding the site or this auction.

Can you share any more details?

e.g., how many visits, how much were the ads bringing in, etc.?

The site has gotten 51440 unique visits and 91919 page hits in total since when I changed the host back on April 18th 2012. In May the amount of daily visitors was approximately 669, in June it was 805.

The ad revenue was pretty unstable and varied a lot.

Operation Fabulous ad was most of the time 0.05 BTC per day, although sometimes it would be as high as 0.50 BTC per day. Daily revenue from Bitcoin Advertisers was often between 0.10-0.20 BTC per day. Anonymous Ads got me little revenue, with daily revenue around one bitcent in most cases. Solve Media (the ad CAPTCHA) had an eCPM of anything between $5-20 when I started out, but it dropped to around $1 eCPM after the first few weeks. All in all I've made about $90 in total during the whole run, although the large majority of the revenue was made in the first few weeks.

Because of this, you'll probably have to adjust the payouts every now and then due to the fluctuating ad revenue, unless you use a different an advertising method.

Yes, the auction would be closed June 26th forum time, although I should have elaborated on that.

Since the last reply before June 26th was from mark_logan, his 15 BTC bid has won the auction.

You better get other way to set the timezone as there is no such thing as forum time. Forum time is dependent on the timezone each user sets at registration or on their profile settings

It seems that there is a forum-wide time, which users can optionally adjust to fit their local time (not during the registration.) So people who adjusted it had the "wrong" time.

To me, forum time is GMT+1. I'm sure for others it will be their timezone. GMT and other conventions exist so people don't need to resort to ambiguous terms.
Well, I guess the OP should be glad none of the bidders decided to complaint about that. They would have a case...

There are many valid arguments here.

It's probably best to use UTC when coordinating this type of stuff on the internet.

Nothing is set at this point. If any of the bidders have any complaints, I'll try to figure a way to solve them (extending the deadline?)

I don't want to make anyone feel cheated.

I'll wait until June 27 12 AM (GMT) if there are any complaints, and I'll try to figure out a good solution if there is a problem.

Congratulations to whoever is decided to be the winner. I hope you are planning to bring the site back up with the same kind of service. When do you think you can have it up and running again? I'm considering removing the link from Skude.se/BTC, but if you will be up again soon it's not worth the effort.

The Auctions section of the forum doesn't allow you to delete posts. This makes it *impossible to "retract" bids. Be careful what you say! Smiley

Yes, unfortunately I've run into some snags in the old code that have to be rewritten to make the payment handling a little less cumbersome, and actually work. I have all the data for the backlog of payments (lots of data) you'll get you coins soon!
