totally gonna check this out, just today I got all excited seeing 6.70 on my mtgox app, only to check virtex site when I got home to see I would only be able to get 6.35 ..

(*edit*) - ok tried it out, very nice, much better than what I was using before, widget works well, price graph works well, but "External Orderbook and Graphs" does not work for me on Samsung Galaxy S2-X (that's the Telus version, has slightly different hardware from what I hear) --------- can't even see the virtex orderbook, let alone anything "external"

am I doing it wrong?

I had planned to implement it at first. Unfortunately, the cavirtex.com ticker API does not contain those values. There is another method that is possible but will require a bit more coding.

According to feedback I have gotten on Google Play, you might need to reboot your phone for the widget to be accessible.

I am so glad the CaVirtex people are spending their time writing iPhone apps instead of adding any sort of trading API.

Earth to CaVirtex: your spreads are huge because nobody can run automated arbitrage between your exchange and the rest of the bitcoin universe.

The printing press heralded the end of the Dark Ages and made the Enlightenment possible, but it took another three centuries before any country managed to put freedom of the press beyond the reach of legislators.  So it may take a while before cryptocurrencies are free of the AML-NSA-KYC surveillance plague.

Cavirtex has nothing to do with the creation of this app nor am I affiliated with them. When I saw the market lacked a proper Bitcoin app that supported cavirtex I decided it was a good opportunity to learn how to code for Android.

If you have issues concerning cavirtex you can contact them at admin@cavirtex.com.

Best interface ever. Been using it since 1.0. For some reason though, recently, I've had to manually update it. I'm on wi-fi and had no issues before. But it hasn't automatically updated in a few days, even after rebooting my phone.

Hey, thanks for your feedback. To enable the widget to refresh in intervals below 30 min I had to alter the widget refreshing code (Google locks widget refresh to 30min in the API since Android 1.6). The new code at the moment does not wake the phone up to keep the widget up to date (as it previously did in earlier versions). This in turn greatly enhances battery life although if your phone is not awake during the the time set to refresh it it will have to wait another interval.

I plan to add a checkbox in Settings in the next version that will enable the app to wake the phone to update the widget if the user prefers this. In the meantime you can set the refresh interval to a lower value such as 10 or 5 min and you will be less likely to miss the updates.

Cool thanks.

Actually, I found a bug that kept the widget from updating automatically. Widget behavior should be back to normal. Sorry about that. The new version has just been uploaded to Google Play, it should be available within the hour.

New update Available:

Version  1.1.1 Changelog

- Fix bug that disabled the widget to be refreshed automatically
- Added option to refresh widget while screen is off or refresh only when device is awake
