I consider this discussion a huge red-flag.  You should never let a third party generate private keys for you.

This pretty well sums it up. Just clone vanitygen and make your own keys offline. Then you can sleep especially well knowing you took the proper steps to keep your funds safe.

It can be done after some time, now the most important is to make split-key generation. You can do it in the same way you generate the address using the prefix.

People will still use it to conserve their electricity fee or due to lack of computer power. I have seen people using bitcoinvanitygen.com without split-key generation.
