ipoMiner does not allow botnets, as I've said; the issue here is that what we're discussing is not a botnet by commonly accepted definitions. Of course you're entitled to your opinion though, and can mine wherever you prefer.

Er... yes it is. If you read english anyway.

As for your defence that "its ok, its only a PUP, its not malware" - you do realise that the only reason they are called "Potentially Unwanted" is because of legitimate miners who download the software and use it properly.

Sideloading a cpu/gpu intensive application that is benefitting no-one but the controller (yes they are all centrally controlled, unless you think that all these computers have operators who are happily keeping danila flush with cryptocurrencies for no return) is clearly under the definition of what a botnet is.

And by supporting him, you support botnets.

Ipominer - stop being a pussy. Admit the fact that you are supporting botnets, or do something about it. Don't try to justify your actions by claiming that its anything but. You only show ignorance and stupidity then.

Please do explain how it's not a botnet. There is no possible way you can explain it and not make it sound like a botnet. This makes you are a sorry excuse for a VTC supporter. In the gpu friendly litecoin days pools didn't hesitate to drop what could be called a botnet, no matter how large it was, or how much profit it was bringing them.

If ipominer stop the pool/ban the botnet, and Danila move to other/private pool, and continue mining with 10G hashpower, will that good for you? Or how do you want to solve this situation?  Shocked

Dont be so stupid!
Okay ipominer closes vtc port. And so what?
Danila moves to other pool. Other pool will be bad pussy too... Or made his selfpool. And soo what the difference?
All the ways bad....
Tomorow i will start cpu mining on 30 core i3 i will be botnet too?
Any idead how to solve problem?

How IT stupid boy i may say only one. The problem of that is only in hands of people who is mining to danila and dont know about it. And thats all folks. (Picture from *great gatsby* with champagne)

Its a botnet. And they are selling them for btc and then for usd. Also couldn't they have somehow figured how much the market allows them to sell at a time and just dedicated part of the botnets to mine that limit of cryptos.

So he is forced to reconfigure all of his miners to mine somewhere else. To re-create 149 workers on another pool and hope that they don't do the same. He loses whatever coins he has mined in the last 120 blocks (ie 120 confirms) - which would be a considerable amount. If he can even reconfigure his botnet to switch pools.

Actually yes, the Vertcoin devs are running simulations at the moment about alternate lyra2 parameters that will be less cpu efficient.

Actually yes, the Vertcoin devs are running simulations at the moment about alternate lyra2 parameters that will be less cpu efficient.

Lyra2 core would slow down the overall algorithm, however the "reduced efficiency part" (and therefore the slowest longest part of the algorithm) would be the easiest part for FPGAs to optimize - so while they may be a little slower than GPUs at Lyra, they will be far faster at the other part than GPUs - thereby removing the GPU advantage and gifting it to customised hardware.

I didn't say optimize the RE part (which are after all just chained SPH LIB algos) - Lyra2 itself has so many different configurations anyway.

Just wanted to point out what I posted in ipominer's thread

To answer your question, it's true.  There is a botnet mining vtc on Ipominer and owns 70% of the network hashrate.  Once this was discovered Ipominer said they would close the port.  The botnet owner contacted Ipominer and complained of a privacy issue.  Subsequently Ipominer stated they will not close the port and they now hide all user stats to prevent others from investigating.  Obviously this is a pretty substantial revenue stream for them.

So if you're a botnet owner, ipominer is the best place for you to mine.

That's completely untrue. We actively ban botnets regularly -- they are against our terms of use. What's being discussed here is not a botnet by any common legal or technical definition -- it's mining via bundled software. Disclosed bundling of software is a valid, industry standard practice which generates revenue for software developers, distributors, and publishers. We're certainly not going to ban a user over a legitimate activity.

Privacy concerns were raised by more than half a dozen ipoMiner users about showing hashrate by username, because of people posting screenshots on bitcointalk and reddit with users information, so we took action to change that.

...not a botnet by any common legal or technical definition...??  This most definitely is a botnet by technical definition.  There's no such thing as a legal definition for a botnet.  It's either a botnet or it isn't.  For the time being let's say it's irrelevant how the software got onto users computers.  It is a network of computers that are commanded and controlled by Danila with or without the user knowing what is going on.  Bottom line, it's a botnet and it goes against your terms of service.

Nobody is debating whether bundling software is valid or not, it obviously is.

What we need to do is drop the discussion whether something is illegal or not.  Nobody is going to jail over this, the internet police are not going to knock on ipominer's or IZABELCOIN LTD's door.  There is no legal issue, unless maybe you live in Yokneam, Israel (https://www.israelbizreg.com/izabelcoin-ltd) but that would only be if maybe someone's computer under Danila's control blows up and starts a fire.  How could that be traced back to Danila, because it's in his EULA right here http://danilafri.wix.com/cpuminer   Oh look it has danila in the URL mentioning cpu miner as if it's his own (we'll get to that later).  Danila don't worry about taking it down it's already archived here https://archive.is/7taoH and locally.  Take a look at these gems in the EULA
Quote
THE CpuMiner INSTALLER AND OR SOFTWARE MAY....ACTIVATE ALL FANS AND GENERATE AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF HEAT, AND UTILIZE AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF ELECTRICITY (OUTLET AND BATTERY)
. Or this
Quote
THIS MAY DAMAGE AND CAUSE IRREPARABLE HARM TO YOUR COMPUTER. YOU MAY ALSO INCUR ADDITIONAL COSTS OR FEES BY YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER (ISP), INCREASED SUPPORT COSTS, LIMIT OR VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
What a joke this is, what did you call it, "compelling documentation"

This is you ipominer, this is who you are associated with, this is who you stick up for.

Ipominer are you a fan of open source software?  Well guess what because Danila decided to make IZABELCOIN LTD and use open source software for profit, he is in violation of whatever license cpuminer and sgminer are under.  Maybe you don't want to stick up for the vertcoin community, that's obvious, but how about sticking up for the open source community.  Do the right thing, ban Danila for so many legitimate reasons, or keep him on for greed.

Speaking of greed, why haven't you raised your fees to 10% yet?  You can easily get them from Danila since you've already said no respectable miner would pay 3% to mine with you.

Vertcoin perfectly demonstrated itself as a coin for the puppeteers.
A powerful pump and a long dump.
The conclusion is simple, just in time to jump into other value coins  Cool
