Hi everyone, Newbie here. I am looking to get started with some bitcoin stuff. Unfortunately, I'm not exactly sure how the whole process works! I'm not looking to invest much (yet) but the whole thing just sounds very interesting from what I have heard. Is there some type of bitcoins for idiots website or post, haha?

You could try the FAQ at the Bitcoin Wiki to start with at :  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ

Then you can google Bitcoin.  I don't know off-hand of a good place to start that doesn't have a lot of extraneous information.

LOL I would highly recommend NOT reading the original whitepaper to get started with Bitcoin.

If you want something super simple - http://bitcoinbasics.com/

If you want something with more depth - http://evoorhees.blogspot.com/2012/04/bitcoin-libertarian-introduction.html

The Q&A section of weusecoins.com is also great for learning concepts that you're interested in, just look through the list of questions and click on any that sound interesting to you.  Smiley

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

I think the graphic in http://spectrum.ieee.org/computing/software/bitcoin-the-cryptoanarchists-answer-to-cash/ sums it up nicely.
