It's spamming the forum and it's not even  real cryptocurrency.
Do we need to support a private cooperation and give them space for free advertising in the forum?
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I don't think all topics related with ripple will be deleted  ~ the forum is "free" .

We don't need to ban ripple, we only need to move all ripple threads back to the alts forum.

exactly that's the point: it's not even decentral crypto.

So can i now go out in the forum and sell my own premined and central coin which isn't even crypto to people here and i can hire 10 people to actually spam my product all over the place?

It's a freakin' company, not a decentral cryptocurrency

Can i now advertise my own private company which accidently happens to have premined tokens for sale?

So can we trade all tokens then?
Magic cards for paypal?
Pokerchips for paypal?
Coca Cola for fiat?
Giftcards for fiat?
Theater and cinema tickets for cash?

I thought the forum was dedicated to decentral cryptocurrency?

I am a bit irritated private companies can use it for free advertisement as much as they want.
If ripple is allowed, bringing in all of consumerism from chocolate to softporn produced and sold by private cooperations should be allowed too as long as a tradeable token is attached. Is it like that?

Forum is not  about cryptocoin but just about tokens of all sorts?

Can we sell literally everything here?

We need to do this exactly. I hate to see ripple related messages everywhere in Bitcoin boards. Lock them to Altcoin trashcan.

nobody wants ripple spam in altcoins either.

How about their very own section?

... you know if it was at least crypto - but it isn't...
i really don't see what all the spam is about ...

well, maybe move them all to offtopic?

I think correct handling would be to give them a subforum in offtopic  Smiley

so let me rephrase from "banning ripple" to "provide them a better space within the forum" Smiley

possible?

This is the post- banning world. If you don't like someone, don't use them and communicate your rationale so others are also warned

I think you mean XRP. I agree that "XRP trolls" have been spamming the forum a lot lately. Im surprised this wasn't moderated more. Do ppl ever report to moderator? Again you're right that the ALT Section hates it just as bad. There should be a vote. Shocked

However, ripple(the platform, protocol, exchange, wallet, whatever you want to call it) is where some people trade other crypto as well. Some people like it and some people don't.

This forum seems like it has more FUD month after month continusly its not just ripple.

I also don't like to see good posts with reasonable speculation or any other kind of insightful content being moved to the altcoin section. Because in your own words, it's a trashcan. Experienced forum members usually know which board is the correct one to start a new topic in and often will avoid the altcoin section. So please, don't just move any topic about anything else other than bitcoin to the altcoin section.

Can we ban ripple? Yes
Are we going to? No

Salty, this answer is succinct, to the point, understandable.  It's also quite terse.  Can you weigh in a bit more about your motivation?  Or some of the ideas posted about providing ripple with it's own subforum or moving it to alts?

As far as its classification, Ripple it is not technically a cryptocurrency, but it is close enough to stay in the Alt Currencies section. Adding new subforums is not done unless it is completely necessary. Unnecessary subdivision makes the forum clunky and cumbersome. It would be like adding an Amazon section for all things having to do with Amazon, an Ebay section, etc. Eventually it would take 30 minutes just to navigate to subforums.

As far as not banning it, we don't ban anything unless it is completely necessary. Censoring technology is a good way to retard growth in related fields. Alt coins explore different options in cryptocurrencies, ripple is another system thats out there doing whatever it is doing. As this is a Bitcoin forum, we won't especially cater to Alt Coins or Ripple, but we will give them the basic courtesy of allowing discussion of them in their own out of the way section (Alt Currencies). I don't care one way or another for ripple, but I think its just fair to let it run its course. Paypal deals in fiat and is a central company, censoring Paypal would be far more appropriate than censoring Ripple, as they have even less to do with the central Bitcoin theme of the forum.

In short, we don't ban/censor anything that doesn't by all accounts need to be banned. The only things that are banned here (that I can think of)
1) Anything illegal in the OP's jurisdiction, baring completely unreasonable laws. If it is illegal to sell your used socks in your country, we probably don't care here.
2) Death threats
3) Spam

The only Alt Coin or anything similar that was ever banned (temporarily) was Scrypt Bitcoin just called Bitcoin but using the Scrypt algorithm. That was because I received a warning from the developer that downloading (Scrypt) Bitcoin could overwrite Bitcoin wallet data if you installed it because they had the same name. That was later tested and found to be untrue, so it was unbanned.
