With the recent news that Sony won't be releasing The Interview in theaters because of the clowns in North Korea, maybe they should release it online for free and solicit donations. One of those donation methods, obviously, BTC.

Okay, great I agree. But what does this have to do with bitcoin? One of those donation methods, obviously, BTC.
That is much too thin to warrant having this thread in bitcoin genchat. It is off-topic discussion.

It'd be a great way to raise some awareness for Bitcoin, as this movie is a hot topic. Just throwing out an idea. Don't shoot.

So you want to attach Bitcoin to that whole fiasco? "This is good for Bitcoin"

So you want to attach Bitcoin to that whole fiasco? "This is good for Bitcoin" Go poll your friends and see how many would want to see the movie. Unless you live in North Korea, the percentage that says yes should be higher than no.

If Sony accepted Bitcoin for donations for releasing this movie, there would definitely be awareness for Bitcoin. But not necessarily good awareness.

I don't know if I'd even pay BTC for this movie, it doesn't look that good to me. If anyone wants to know why Sony scrapped the release of it with N. Korea all up in arms, here's the infamous scene, and movie in a nutshell. SPOILERS AHEAD http://mirror.ninja/xdhcI'll just wait for it on streaming or HBO.

Very interesting idea but I don't think that this will happen. First, why Sony should release The Interview online for free and lost possible profit from this movie? They are not charity organization but serious business company and their main goal is profit. Obviously, if they will ever accept bitcoin as way of payment (or donation), this will help us but they also must see how this decision will benefit them.

Haven't you heard, we don't have to pay anymore, just threaten them. Want a new blu-ray player? Just tell them your a scary mysterious guy who will destroy them with fiery justice and spread your unstoppable wrath upon them. It's ok if your just a chubby little daddy's boy. It works!

They should just release it and stop being pussies. Rogen should just leak it if they're not going to show it. Shame they've not capitalised on this because it is massive free publicity for the film. Zero credible information about a terroristic threats on movie theaters or motion picture companies. No movies... movie gets shelved. The terrorists win Exactly. This was handled really badly and all it shows is they will give in to hollow terroristic threats so it sets a really bad precedent. It's a movie, get over it (though I would like to see how America and the world would react if a film about killing Obama would be handled).

Isn't Sony a Japanese company, what's all this talk of an attack on US soil? You guys act like they sent the self destruct signal to burn the all the FETs in all the US PlayStations and there's fires raging everywhere.
