It seems 450 is the highest I can go, before performance starts degrading.
At 462 it dropped at 1300GH/s

How many watts are you pulling at 437.5 and 450?

Around 830w-850w at the wall (120v).
My PSU is not very efficient though.

Does anyone use 2fan for cooling?

Planning to put on two 1500rpm fans to keep quite this thing.
  dont  waste of money

two of these are the best.

my tests with them

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=907219.msg10158497#msg10158497

you can go low with 5.5 volts   to the fans --------------freq 300 990 gh very quiet

or high with 9.2 volts to the fans-------------------------freq 393 1292 gh  10 db less then the stock fan.

Thanks I would have gotten those the only reason I did not is because I want the 4-wire fan not three I want to use the fan header on Controller.

Well now I am stuck with two Silverstone's which will be here Monday 1/19/2015 !!!

The PSU's I have had great luck are RM1000, EVGA 1300, Lightning 1300.   All work great with bitmain or other miners.

I can vouch for RM1000s, worth every penny. 16AWG and not even remotely close to overheating. I had one at 100% load in 50C and it was perfectly while where other PSUs had all shut down. At 50% load it doesn't even run its fan Shocked

Acknowledging that this is not a major point, have others noticed the plastic side panels tend to be bowed (as opposed to flat)?  I found that with my new units I needed to loosen the forward screws to relax the side panels and allow them to flatten.  Unfortunately, the screws appear to be particularly tight and it's a real challenge to relax them without damaging the Phillips heads.  Perhaps this is something Bitmain production/shipping could take a look at?

Can you fire me over some pictures please and I'll take a look.

Guys, I see many of you are overclocking your S5s already. Won't this void your warranty? If not, I'd like to OC mine too. -13 C here... so i can likely get results like mitak64.

Thx. I think mitak64 is right:  "To me it sounds like Bitmain is encouraging us"

Hm, read again the thread title. To me it sounds like Bitmain is encouraging us  Wink

Just to confirm again, overclocking WILL void your warranty.

I was having reliability problems with my Batch 4 S5 that just arrived this week, so someone suggested I update the firmware with the latest (Jan 7) release on the website. Ever since I updated with that firmware I have had troubles. At first I had problems with one blade not coming up, then I did get it working about only at about 800Gh (default settings), and now almost 3 hours later I am down to 680Gh.

Does anyone have the original firmware available for download?

How were your deltas when powered from the miner or directly off the PSU at 12V as far as temp and noise is concerned?

Afraid a bit late for photos, I've already relaxed the panels.  However, it's easy to visualize, all four panels were either bowed in at the centers (towards the boards), or bowed out (away from the boards.)  My problem was just that the screws were remarkably tight, far more so than those securing the cover of the S3.  My #2 Phillips screwdriver tended to ride up out of the slot rather than turn them -- and that was with major pressure being applied.

I was having reliability problems with my Batch 4 S5 that just arrived this week, so someone suggested I update the firmware with the latest (Jan 7) release on the website. Did you check the "File System Version" on the System/Overview page before updating?  Mine arrived Thursday (shipped Monday) and already had the Jan 7 file system installed (Wed Jan 7 14:05:02 CST 2015)!

No, unfortunately I forgot to look. The other problem is that on the Bitmain website there is no version number or date so I didn't know if it was newer or not. So theoretically I installed the same firmware, but it is acting different.

I noticed when you lift the s5 up to were the bottom is open the temps skyrocket at well as the rpm and noise on the S5 stock fan.

maybe I should get Plexiglass and make a bottom for it or seal the bottom off so no air leaks out.

what do you guys think ?

I will call my friend he is a cooling engineer he knows a lot about air pressure and airflow and all that stuff. and see what he says.

Or just buy a fish tank and submerge it in pure mineral oil then no fans are needed.

take a look at this way to expensive though for what these miners make.

I believe my Antminer S5 is Dead on Arrival, I attached 4 PCI connectors and turned the power supply on and the machine does not power on. None of the black buttons are working either.

I'm using the 750 W Rosewill ATX PSU.

Anyone have any ideas?
Did you put a paper clip on your power supply ?
